The new high jewellery collection from Fred takes shape over two distinct chapters: 1936 and Soleil d’Or Sunrise
In 1936, the house of Fred was born and with it a passion for radiant jewellery creations that captured sunshine and made it wearable. Fred Samuel was one of the first jewellers to specialise in coloured diamonds, and his vision for jewellery was unique for its bold use of movement and light, a vision that has stayed true in the decades since.
This year, Fred unveils 19 beautiful new high jewellery creations, across two chapters that nod to the brand’s heritage and history. The chapters—1936 and Soleil d’Or Sunrise—speak to key moments in the brand’s history that led to it becoming known as The Sunshine Jeweller.

After a childhood spent in the company of gemstones and their dealers, Fred Samuel opened his very first jewellery boutique on Rue Royale, Paris in 1936. The street was remarkable for its beautiful arcades and Art Deco arches. These arches became a hallmark pattern for Fred, and have inspired the lines and forms of the four 1936 sets.

The arches appear in different permutations across the four sets, whether in concentric lines around a Colombian emerald or tiered in a waterfall below a cushion-cut blue Sri Lankan sapphire.

In 1977, Fred encountered a yellow diamond of exceptional beauty and radiance and over 100 carats. The stone was ranked 52nd among the world’s largest cut diamonds, and was the perfect reflection of the maison’s love of light-filled, luminous jewels. Fred named the diamond Soleil d’Or (golden sun). Now, almost 50 years later, the Soleil d’Or Sunrise pieces pay tribute to that first diamond, with nine creations that capture the shades of the sun at sunrise and when the sun reaches its zenith in the sky.
