1. The Collection by JLG
Under the creative direction of designer Julien-Löic Garin, this brand makes contemporary collections inspired by ancient Egypt and India, as well as by the art nouveau period. From brooches with delicately carved petal motifs to renaissance-inspired rings, each piece exhibits the founder’s imagination and the brand’s technical mastery.
For example, the Four Archers series stands out for its craftsmanship. Garin depicts the four archer gods—Orion, Apollo, Eros and Artemis—in vivid colour palettes representing the seasons. The Sun God Apollo is depicted through yellow and orange sapphires and diamonds on 18-karat yellow gold. Eros, the god of love and sensuality, embodies rose hues with burgundy spinel and freshwater pearls on rose gold. Artemis, the goddess of hunting and moon, is adorned in carved peridot leaves and green sapphires on yellow gold; and Orion, a water deity is symbolised by aquamarine lozenge.
2. Chantel Shafie
Chantel Shafie is known both for its minimalist everyday jewellery and show-stopping statement pieces. The collections feature everything from lunar medallions and dragon brooches to multi-coloured rainbow sapphire hoops and bespoke rings. In each of the pieces—be it rings, bracelets, pendants or earrings—clean lines allow the natural beauty of the gemstones to shine through.
3. Milamore
Milamore’s founder George Inaki Root, who has Spanish-Filipino and Japanese heritage, draws inspiration from his multicultural background and his passion for Japanese culture to honour heritage through fine jewellery. Launched in 2019, the brand balances edgy boldness with sophisticated imperfection. Root’s designs celebrate individuality, encouraging wearers to connect with themselves and their surroundings. Concepts of wabi-sabi and yin-yang infuse the jewellery with deeper meaning. Our favourite is the Kintsugi collection—available at Lane Crawford—which is based on the idea of jewellery that mends one’s soul.
4. Valentina Fine Jewellery
Anastasia Gardner’s interest in jewellery was sparked as a young girl in 1980s Moscow when her grandmother returned from India with vivid gemstones and silver adornments. While attending a Hong Kong gem show, this passion was rekindled. Named after her beloved grandmother, Valentina Fine Jewellery encapsulates Gardner’s dedication to customer-focused service and quality craftsmanship. She works closely with clients to create fully customised pieces at affordable prices. Gardner oversees every step of the process from conception to casting and polishing at her Hong Kong-based atelier.
5. Forms Jewellery
Founded 11 years ago, Forms Jewellery is all about pursuing freedom of imagination through jewellery. With workshops in Geneva and Hong Kong, the brand focuses on technical mastery using unconventional materials such as dinosaur fossil, black titanium and agate, along with precious stones.
