On November 28, Christie’s will auction off 51 of The Head Hunter actress’ high jewellery pieces, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity—here are Tatler’s top five picks

Rosamund Kwan, as well known for her acting credits as she is for her timeless elegance, is selling a selection of her jewellery at the Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition centre on November 28. The lots will include vintage jewellery valued at HK$100 million from the Hong Kong actress’ personal collection, amassed over the years from brands such as Cartier, Buccellati, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Louis Vuitton, and Boghossian, just to name a few. Every piece is a reminder of her journey as an actress and jewellery connoisseur, and a portion of the auction proceeds will go towards charity.

“[They] are a perfect representation of my preferred style: vintage and simple, but also elegant, timeless, and very easy to match and wear,” Kwan said of the 51 pieces of jewellery selected for auction. “I sincerely hope they will find new homes through this auction and look forward to seeing the sale proceeds go towards doing good.”

In an interview with Christie’s the 60-year-old icon talked about being an active jewellery investor, and what attracts her to certain pieces: “I make sure there is potential for appreciation whenever I choose a piece,” she said. “Before I make a purchase, I consult industry insiders and listen to a broad spectrum of opinions. I also pay attention to market information shared by renowned auction houses… you can tell the types of jewellery that are the best to collect and invest in.”

Previously, Christie’s auctions have included an online-only timed auction of Elizabeth Taylor’s private collection in 2011; also, 12 designs by Joel Arthur Rosenthal from the estate of Ann Getty earlier this year, which amounted to US$5,900,580.

“We are very honoured and delighted for the opportunity to present Rosamund’s collection to collectors around the world. She is not only esteemed and recognised for her achievements in the film industry, but also for her discerning eye for the very best fine jewellery,” said Vickie Sek, Chairman of the Department of Jewellery for Christie’s Asia Pacific.
