Cartier’s ambassadors come together to celebrate a century of the Trinity collection, showcasing that love can hold a multitude of meanings
This year, Cartier is marking a big moment—the 100th anniversary of its iconic Trinity collection. First introduced in 1924, this stunning piece of jewellery not only celebrates a century of unparalleled craftsmanship but also represents all the deep connections it’s inspired over the years. Cartier’s Trinity Centenary campaign continues to celebrate these values after 100 years.

Right at the heart of the campaign is Cartier’s attempt to define the complex concept and emotion called love through a captivating film featuring its brand ambassadors Paul Mescal, Jisoo, Yara Shahidi, Jackson Wang and Labrinth. Different aspects and narratives on love, from friendly to fervent, are brought out by each ambassador. The expansive setting of the film underscores the central message of Cartier: that there are infinite possibilities in every kind of interaction.

Like the three rings of Trinity, they move independently, but harmoniously, to advance with grace through an infinite landscape, set to a soundtrack by Labrinth. The composer brought together their voices, inviting us to reflect on the diversity of the connections that we establish. “The bonds we make, no matter what shape they take, friendship, passion, family, when a bond is there, it brings us closer, sometimes for a lifetime, sometimes just a brief moment of time, but that’s not important... if a bond forms, just once, it has the power to bind us for life,” says Labrinth.

Paul Mescal, an Oscar-nominated Irish actor celebrated for his ability to convey profound emotional depths in his performances following his breakout role in Normal People, reflects on enduring bonds through his work. “Trinity embodies friendship, love and kindness.”
On a different note, Jisoo, a global pop icon and member of the famed K-Pop girl group Blackpink, champions the cause of self-love and brings together an entire generation across the world. She promotes diversity: “For me, Trinity is a part of our lives; it links to the idea of diversity and allows me to embrace all my facets—and to encourage new generations to do so.”

Meanwhile, Yara Shahidi, an award-winning actress and producer known for her role in ABC’s Black-ish, explores themes of familial love and community. Discussing the impact of group camaraderie, this Harvard graduate explains, “My own life is a result of the deep love I’ve felt from my community of support.” She also takes this into consideration in her social engagement and activism, particularly in her fight for on-screen diversity.
Jackson Wang, a multifaceted artist known for his music, performance, fashion design and creative direction, delves into the theme of personal fulfilment. He shares his thoughts on emotional bonds: “I hope everyone can find their own standard of happiness and satisfaction. I try to establish emotional links that resemble Trinity’s values.” He champions this when he is leading Team Wang, making history as the first Chinese artist to perform at Coachella for two consecutive years.

Lastly, Labrinth, a multi-awarded English musician and record producer and the creator of the film’s soundtrack, introduces a creative angle to the campaign as he focuses on the love that emerges through artistic collaboration. As a producer known for rich soundscapes that can be exemplified in various projects such as in Euphoria seasons 1 and 2, he elaborates his unique perspective on love. “To feel, to love and to craft as a collective is a truly amazing experience. The collaboration in itself, joining diverse worlds and creating exchanges is a true symbolism of the universality of Trinity.”

So, circling back to the question on what exactly is love, we find the answer by looking at those who express it daily. Cartier, in its famous Trinity collection, has always tried to capture this. Each interlocking ring symbolises love, fidelity or friendship, reflecting our personal engagement in our most intimate relationships. We are reminded that love is not only a profound emotion to be felt but also a powerful force that can shape our world through the relationships we foster.
