Chopard’s joyful new campaign introduces its latest Happy Diamonds pendants and Happy Sport The First watches, with freedom of movement at their heart

There is an easy sense of joy in Chopard’s latest campaign starring models Bella Hadid and Liu Wen. Smiling, dancing and moving with an unselfconscious ease, the two brand ambassadors capture the freedom at the heart of Happy Diamonds. The jewellery and watches move with them, their freely gliding diamonds responding to every gesture.

Celebrating 50 years of Happy Diamonds, the film introduces Chopard’s latest rectangular pendants and Happy Sport The First watches. Directed by Manu Cossu, with choreography by Stephen Galloway, it brings a playful energy to a design idea that has endured since 1976: diamonds given the freedom to move.

Hadid, a Chopard ambassador since 2024, brings an expressive spontaneity, while newly appointed ambassador Liu offers a quieter, more measured presence. Galloway’s choreography draws on contemporary dance, using small gestures and shifts in posture to animate the creations. Photographer Greg Williams captures their personalities in the accompanying stills, describing Hadid as “expressive and bold”, and Liu Wen as possessing “elegance and subtlety”.

The campaign’s emphasis on movement reaches back to Happy Diamonds’ origins. Inspired by sunlight shimmering across the spray of a Black Forest waterfall, Chopard developed a construction that allowed diamonds to glide between two sapphire crystals, each housed in an individual gold capsule.

The latest Happy Diamonds pendants revisit a rectangular silhouette introduced in 2006. Softly bevelled edges catch the light, while the interior has been subtly expanded to give the diamonds greater room to move. Newly designed rectangular-link chains, crafted in-house, echo the geometry of the pendants and lend themselves to layering.

Seven designs make up the collection. Three compact pendants, measuring 16.5mm long, come in 18K ethical yellow, rose or white gold, each containing three moving diamonds. A second trio extends the silhouette to 25.4mm, retaining the same number of mobile stones within a more elongated frame.

The white gold versions feature diamond-set frames with a bevelled castle setting, introduced for the first time within the collection. Inspired by the repeating forms of crenellations, its finely sculpted structure minimises the visible metal around the diamonds, creating a continuous line of sparkle.

Completing the collection is a 49mm high jewellery pendant in ethical white gold. Created in Chopard’s high jewellery atelier, it frames seven moving diamonds with an arrangement of trapeze- and emerald-cut stones. The contrast between the fixed outer diamonds and those travelling within gives the geometric design its character.

Happy Sport The First revisits another defining chapter in Chopard’s history. Created by Caroline Scheufele in 1993, Happy Sport brought steel and diamonds together in a watch conceived for everyday wear, with moving stones gliding directly over the dial.

Scheufele wanted a watch that could accompany her throughout the day, worn as comfortably with jeans as with a cocktail dress. The new interpretations preserve that versatility in two case sizes, 26mm and 33mm, with particular attention paid to the original pebble-link bracelet.

Inspired by stones rounded by the sea, the bracelet has been entirely redesigned and crafted in-house. Its polished, organic links are scaled to each case size, forming a supple bracelet that follows the wrist. Silver-toned, finely grained dials carry midnight blue Roman numerals, railway minute tracks and blued sword-shaped hands. Five diamonds animate the 26mm model, while seven move across the 33mm version. Suspended between two sapphire crystals with double anti-reflective treatment, they remain the most playful element of an otherwise restrained dial.

All seven references use quartz movements. Options include Lucent Steel, Chopard’s steel made with an 80 per cent recycling rate, and two-tone combinations with 18K ethical yellow gold. Selected steel models feature diamond-set bezels, while a 26mm version pairs an ethical yellow gold case and bracelet with a diamond-set bezel.
