The Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and Z Flip 5G make up Samsung's latest range of foldable devices, offering improved durability and more

Samsung is one of the pioneers in foldable smartphones, having debuted the Galaxy Fold back in 2019. Though it faced a few hiccups along the way, the company has continuously improved on the design and features of each subsequent model. The South Korean phone giant has launched its latest range of foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G, at the Galaxy Unpacked event last night.

As expected they feature a few upgrades. For one, the third generation premium foldable smartphones boast better durability. Both the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 boasts an IPX8 rating for water resistance, which means you need not worry if it is splashed or briefly submerged in water. The addition of the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the front and rear panels from scratches and accidental drops.

Samsung reveals that the main display are also 80 per cent more durable than the previous version, and they can withstand many folds over the course of use.

Then there is the The 5G feature which allows for faster browsing and download speeds when the next generation network comes online sometime in 2022.

Samsung has also made the Z Fold 3, its first foldable device to support the S Pen stylus. It's a great addition as the stylus makes it easier to jot down notes during a video call, signing documents, and checking off your to-do list as you read emails.
