Sporty and reliable, the Porsche Cayenne is even a pleasure to drive on a quick grocery run, according to the managing director of The Clearwater Group

When it comes to an urban ride that is safe and comfortable for the family, yet uncompromising in delivering sports performance, the Porsche Cayenne SUV is at the top of our list. Functional with the looks to boot, it cruises on the road like a dream, courtesy of a powerful Turbo engine combined with eight-speed Tiptronic S that corroborate with three-chamber air suspension and electric rolling-motion compensation.

Its athletic-looking exterior belies an intelligent lightweight construction coupled with a specific adaptive roof that promises a smoother drive. Step inside, and it feels like you've entered a different world, luxuriously kitted with the latest tech including the Porsche Advanced Cockpit that integrates display and control elements in a single, harmonious design.

The cabin is luxuriously appointed. Think adaptive sports seats for the driver and passengers, finished in fine leather. Comfort is further enhanced with the four-zone automatic climate control feature, with separate control for rear seat passengers. The Bose Surround Sound System provides top quality audio for optimal enjoyment.

The car makes an immediate impression on entrepreneur, mother, yoga enthusiast and all-round superwoman Datin Dian Lee. "The new Cayenne has a strong masculine energy to it," she enthuses. "I’ve always preferred to drive in big cars with more height, and the Cayenne looks safe, sturdy and powerful."

Tell us more about what you think of the car.

I’ve always been a fan of Porsche for its design and performance. The Cayenne’s exterior is stylish and has a certain athleticism to it. I love cars with large wheels, and Cayenne's 21-inch wheels look stylish for SUV and great in handling."

Even for a short drive from my house to the grocery store, the car is a pleasure to drive.

The car’s handling is good. I like the big touch screen with built-in GPS Overall its feels, stylish, luxurious and well-built.

I also like the Porsche Apple CarPlay, which allows me to use certain apps from my iPhone while being fully focused on the road ahead. The Porsche Connects is a great function that syncs my own playlists.

How have you been keeping busy during FMCO?

I’ve been the kids' tutor and tech support since online school has resumed. I'm doing some online courses during this time to enrich myself.

Share with us your daily routine during this lockdown.

In the morning, the first thing I do is go through my work emails. Then I do meditation or yoga asana on the mat. I recently bought a spin bike so I’ve been doing quite a bit of spinning for the much-needed endorphins.

This is followed by making lunch for the kids and myself. After lunch, I’m usually on Zoom attending meetings or catching up on my online courses.

In the evening, I am either out for a walk around the neighbourhood or spending time in our little farm at home. During this time, it’s really important to have gratitude for everything we have.

Do you have any self-care tips that you also practise at home?

The highest form of self-care is to take care of your peace of mind, which is why I meditate. Meditation is the art of minding our minds. It’s important to stay present when dealing with the everyday issues and problems. I’ve also been holding classes online to facilitate guided meditation and sound healing, and proceeds of the class goes to a different charity every week.

What has your WFH experience been like?

I’ve been working from home for a while now and I feel very blessed that I have the freedom to do so. I think it’s great that we now have the technologies that enable us to stay connected during lockdown. But I do look forward to face to face interaction, it’s just not the same!

What do you enjoy doing most during lockdown?

I enjoy being in my yoga pants all day and spending time with my family. I’ve also been spending more time in the kitchen and our farm, which is really lovely. I also have extra time to catch up on my reading. The pandemic has really taught me to enjoy the simpler things in life.

What do you miss most when you’re in lockdown?

I miss seeing my extended family—my parents, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. And of course my closest friends. I also really miss taking my family out on trails and hikes. The Cayenne is an ideal companion for the family; it's spacious enough to fit all of us.

As soon as this is over, where would you like to drive to in this Porsche?

I would love to take the Cayenne to Penang to enjoy the beach and yummy local street food.
