The Creative Director and Brand Manager for Nena’s Sanctuary and Joel’s Place and one of Tatler Asia’s Most Stylish, Christian Tantoco does it all with a smile on his face

Armed with a brilliant creative mind and a proactive approach to business that can only be described as formless yet functional, Christian Tantoco aims to uplift people’s lives through his initiatives. Coming from a name that commands attention, one could say that he is destined for greatness. At 27 years old, he brings a unique and modern take to his family’s tradition—championing community, inclusivity, and innovation in all that he does.

As Tatler Asia’s Most Stylish, he sports a distinctive sense of class inspired by no one. Tantoco’s flair follows no trends—only his heart’s desire. “It’s easier for me to decipher what I like when I’m not influenced by anything,” he shares.

As the creative director for Nena’s Sanctuary—an omnichannel, lifestyle retail and leisure destination in Sta Elena Golf and Estate—Tantoco, along with his siblings Camille and Nicole, has transformed the space into a modern, European-style garden centre reminiscent of Petersham Nursery and Boma Gardens in the United Kingdom. “My brother is in charge of all the creatives. He makes sure that the visual aesthetics of our brand are to the highest standard and express the brand values authentically,” says Nicole Tantoco-Delos Reyes, Marketing Specialist at Nena’s Sanctuary.

His artistic flair and business acumen extend to his latest project, Joel’s Place, a new lifestyle and food concept launched in 2023. The place is designed to be a welcoming place that brings the grocery, speciality store, and restaurant together while fostering a community that celebrates good food, taste, and company. “With Joel’s Place and Nena’s Sanctuary, it was a meaningful two years of co-creation,” says Tantoco.

As one of Tatler Asia’s Most Stylish, Tantoco likes to be his most authentic self—figuring out what works for him as he goes. A few designers he swears by are Toqa, Carl Jan Cruz, and Construction Layers.

Tantoco’s hunger for knowledge never ends and while he has no big plans coming up, he constantly looks for new ways to uplift lives and communities.
