At 21 years old, Alex Consani was awarded Model of the Year at the Fashion Awards 2024 in London
In a history-making feat, 21-year-old American model and influencer Alex Consani was recently bestowed the title ‘Model of the Year’—the first ever out transgender woman to receive the distinction. The award was given at the 2024 Fashion Awards, held on December 2 in London’s Royal Albert Hall. Fellow model Ashley Graham and actor Nava Mau presented the award to Consani, who stunned in a corseted dress with Union Jack-pattered draping by Dilara Findikoglu.
“I’m the first trans woman to win this award!” Consani told audience members in her acceptance speech. “But I can’t accept this award without thanking those who came before me, specifically the Black trans women who really fought for the space I’m in today–Dominique Jackson, Connie Fleming, Aaron Rose Phillips and countless more who fought for the space that allowed me to flourish today.”
She also thanked her parents for their support and encouraged the families of transgender youth to do the same.

Consani has walked the runways of Chanel, Simone Rocha, Tory Burch and Thom Browne. She has also worked with designers such as Simon Porte Jacquemus, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs. A social media star, Consani is known for her comedic videos, Y2K style, and quirky, refreshing approach to navigating the fashion world. She has amassed a fanbase of 3.9 million followers on TikTok.
Last year’s awardee was dedicated to Paloma Elsesser, another groundbreaking achievement as the first plus-size model to earn the Model of the Year distinction. Other awardees of the night include Jonathan Anderson of JW Anderson and Loewe for Designer of the Year, Grace Wales Bonner for British Menswear Designer, and Simone Rocha for British Womenswear Designer.

Consani began modelling in 2015 at age 13—the youngest transgender model in the world at that time. Last October, she and Valentina Sampaio made history as the first trans women to walk the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
