Vestiaire Collective launches the Archive Collection, featuring rare, vintage fashion pieces from the ‘90s

Great news for fashion collectors: Vestiaire Collective has launched its Archive Collection, comprising more than 80 “never-worn, museum-worthy” pieces, according to the luxury resale platform.

The collection, comprising dresses, T-shirts, jackets and knitwear, celebrates the artistry and allure of vintage fashion, with pieces dating back to the 1980s. The collection also shines a spotlight on grail-worthy designs by three fashion brands: Hermès, Maison Margiela and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Fans of Kendall Jenner’s style will be particularly thrilled by Vestiaire Collective’s selection of vintage Jean Paul Gaultier designs. Jenner has been spotted wearing iconic pieces by the French couturier, including the Venus De Milo halter-neck dress from the spring/summer 1999 collection and the Cyber Dot dress from the fall/winter 1995 collection. The latter collection, marked by its use of a colourful, dotted print, has gone viral and won over celebrities like Doja Cat, Cardi B and The Little Mermaid star Chloe Bailey. Pieces from the collection are now available on Vestiaire Collective.

The release of the Archive Collection comes on the heels of Vestiaire Collective’s 2023 Impact Report, which reveals a significant surge in demand for second-hand luxury fashion. The report highlighted that consumers are shifting towards investing in fewer, higher-quality items. The company was also valued at US$1.7 billion in 2021.

Founded in Paris in 2009 by Sophie Hersan and Fanny Moizant, Vestiaire Collective is a global luxury resale platform dedicated to promoting a more sustainable future for the fashion industry. Its digital platforms and expert-led authentication process simplify the buying and selling process of secondhand fashion, offering access to a curated catalogue of over five million pre-loved designer pieces. In an interview with Tatler Singapore earlier this year, Hersan shared, “Our mission is still the same as it was 15 years ago… [we want] to promote sustainable fashion by empowering our community to drive change.”
