Who? Altuzarra, Gabriela Hearst and Luar

There are few better ways to say “I have things to do” than by carrying multiple bags. Instead of carrying whichever bag is in your current rotation plus an average canvas tote, we saw shoulder bags paired with top handle bags at Altuzarra, a leather tote inside a larger rattan one at Gabriela Hearst, and doubling up on the same tiny handbag at Luar.

NYFW: Updated crossbody

Who? Ulla Johnson, Altuzarra and Collina Strada

The crossbody bag has been stripped back to basics: now all you need is perfectly sized pouches for your absolute essentials. Altuzarra had a trio of leather pouches, styled across the body or around the waist, that could fit cash, keys and lip balm. Ulla Johnson showed a slightly larger duo that could hold sunglasses and your phone, and Collina Strada stuck to a  single pouch in a cute knit fabric.

NYFW: Buckets in spades

Who? Tory Burch, Ulla Johnson and Michael Kors

Bucket bags aren’t going anywhere because they’re the perfect middle ground between classy and casual. Michael Kors went with the traditional bucket in neutral shades, Ulla Johnson played with layers of leather, and Tory Burch’s were slouchy yet structured in a range of sizes.

NYFW: Heavy embellishments

Who? Thom Browne, Collina Strada, Moschino and Tom Ford

There were structured, floral appliqué-covered top-handle bags at Thom Browne, while Tom Ford had dazzling rhinestone wristlets in metallic colours. Collina Strada went with celebratory layers of rosettes, and the playful theme continued at Moschino where bags were adorned with zippers, buttons and childlike characters.
