Of all the show-stopping accessories on the runway at the Schiaparelli show in Paris, this golden bag turned heads

Creative director Daniel Roseberry stripped back the latest Schiaparelli Haute Couture collection, not to basics, but in a move “towards the elemental”. Relying on only black, white and gold, he focused on creating a sense of otherworldliness, but without relying on the usual tropes that communicate drama in fashion, such as excess volume and fabric.

Roseberry created a sleek and elegant collection of clothes inspired by the heavens and mythical ideals, adorned with gilded accessories: Sculpted corsets, celestial head pieces, palm-like plumage and anatomical bodices, belts and bags.

One bag caught the eyes of the audience and stared back, quite literally. This clutch took the shape of a woman’s head—specifically Schiaparelli model and muse, Maggie Maurer. Cast in the house’s signature shade of neutral gold, it was a carbon copy of Maurer, who has been the face of several of the house’s campaigns.

The androgynous beauty who hails from New York didn’t walk with the bag featuring her likeness during the show, but she expressed her appreciation of being immortalised by Roseberry online.
