Philippine Fashion Week plans to shift focus and amplify its reach as a launchpad for creatives in the fashion industry and beyond

For nearly three decades, Philippine Fashion Week has celebrated the creative efforts of Filipino designers and the country’s unique fashion culture. Now, the event shifts focus as it aims to amplify its reach, serving as a ‘launchpad’ for burgeoning designers to build their careers and make meaningful contributions to the local fashion industry and beyond.

This transition is grounded in a commitment to reinvent the runway—a move that signals a broader purpose beyond a series of runway shows. Its new role embraces seven key lifestyle domains: fashion, dining, beverages, home, travel, arts & entertainment, and wellness. With its expanded runway, Philippine Fashion Week is turning into a space to showcase new talent in various industries.

The official launch occurred on October 24 at the Ayala Museum. Co-founders Audie and Joey Espino were joined by newly appointed chief vision officer Nikky Nicandro III in announcing the platform’s new direction.

At the event, the organisers unveiled seven original creations from designers Amir Salo, Jerome Salaya Ang, Jaggy Glarino, Ulysses King, Nina Ricci Eleazar, Jober’t Cristobal, and Cherry Veric, each centred around the brand new Philippine Fashion Week logo as reference.

Glarino describes his creative mission in an Instagram post, “As a designer, I’m driven by a constant curiosity to reinterpret the familiar. By challenging the conventional, I am to reshape the narrative, offering a more nuanced, imaginative perspective on fashion.”

This will be done through establishing alliances with other fashion weeks and international designers.
