'Viva Magenta' has been unveiled as the Pantone colour of the year. See how our cover ladies have worn it across the years

The Pantone Colour Institute recently unveiled the Colour of the Year for 2023: Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta. Described as "an unconventional shade for an unconventional time," the mauvish-crimson shade replaces this year's Very Peri.

Pantone wrote, "Powerful and empowering, it is an animated red that encourages experimentation and self-expression without restraint; an electrifying, boundaryless shade that is manifestly 'out there' and is a stand-out statement." True enough, only the bold and unconventional can carry magenta well.
