While there are plenty of ways to wear a leather jacket, the biker fashion trend spotted at recent runway shows calls for us to channel our inner James Dean. Hyein keeps her girly style intact by pairing her motorcycle jacket with a buckle leather skirt. Her outfit is tied together with its use of silver hardware details, most evident in her Demonia Damned Destiny platform boots.

While Britney Spears is the popstar that many of us look to for 2000s style inspiration, Hyein had another of the era’s fashion icons on her radar: Christina Aguilera (nicknamed “Xtina”). At a photoshoot, the New Jeans singer emulated Aguilera’s Dirrty style with a cut-out crop-top, a pair ripped, low-rise jeans and, most importantly, crystal belly chains. After all, what is Y2K fashion without a little bling?

Y2K fashion was anything but practical, and this was especially evident in the era’s love of mini bags. Tapping on a fashion brand that was trendy in the 2000s, Hyein showed off her silver Diesel 1dr bag—one of the hottest accessories of the year—by contrasting it against her all-black outfit. Bag aside, another standout accessory of this look is Hyein’s stiletto boots, which feature pocket details inspired by another 2000s style staple: cargo pants.

Thanks to its sleek costumes, The Matrix has become one of fashion’s favourite films, inspiring interest in pieces like tiny sunglasses and leather trench coats. Hyein’s all-black outfit at the 2022 The Fact Music Awards was clearly a nod to the latter. Flaunting an Acne Studios waistcoat and sock-like boots, the K-pop star added a feminine touch to the dramatic ensemble with a floral belt.

One of the questionable fashion trends to come out of the noughties was the preference for partying in business casual attire. At the Louis Vuitton fall/winter 2023 fashion show in Paris, Hyein recreated a typical clubbing look from the decadent decade, styling a peplum top with slim pants, both taken from the French fashion brand’s spring/summer 2023 collection. Still, the New Jeans member knew better than to wear heels: she opted for Louis Vuitton’s Archlight sneakers instead.

Knit beanie hats were all the rage among emo and pop-punk music fans in the 2000s, when bands like Fall Out Boy ruled supreme. Hyein has brought back the accessory in a true, cool girl fashion by mixing it with a bikecore outfit instead. She sported a cropped leather jacket, striped jeans and leather sandals.
