The new collection will be available online and in stores in mainland China from April 27 and across Hong Kong and Taiwan in May

As a collection of 2,222 randomly generated 32x32 pixel NFTs, Monkey Kingdom takes  inspiration from the mythical creature Sun Wukong, also known as Monkey King, who is based on the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en, and has captured the hearts of many Asians

When Monkey Kingdom’s first collection was released on November 27, 2021, it sold out in less than two minutes and garnered mainstream success days after mint. The following month, the project sold an NFT for a record 660 Solana (US$148,000), and in March 2022, it became the first Asian NFT project to be auctioned by Sotheby’s, cementing its right to be considered alongside more traditional contemporary art.

Past collaborators include renowned electronic music artist Steve Aoki and the Japanese fashion brand Ambush, and today the Hong Kong-born project has another milestone to add to its list of accomplishments.

Monkey Kingdom has collaborated with Adidas Originals for their Spring/Summer collection themed Not-So-Serious Auction House. The new partnership marks a big step in bridging Web 2 and Web 3 worlds and will be released in mainland China from April 27 and across Hong Kong and Taiwan in May.

Inspired by hip hop and 1970s party culture, the collaboration features Monkey Kingdom’s renowned pixel art style. A distorted effect is created in the design, which reshapes the classic three-leaf clover logo. The collection will include jackets, polo shirts, t-shirts, shorts, crop tops, dresses and pleated skirts designed for those with a carefree and rebellious spirit. For footwear, Adidas Originals' classic Superstar and Retropy styles serve as the blueprint, with the addition of 3D holographic effects to the shoe’s tongue.

"The collaboration with Adidas Originals is a perfect opportunity for Monkey Kingdom to expand its presence in the physical fashion world,” says Alice Wong, the artist behind the collection and CEO of Monkey Kingdom. “The 1970s hip-hop style and culture resonate with our brand's rebellious and creative spirit. We're excited to bring our retro-pixel art style to Adidas Originals and bring digital art into the public eye,” she said.
