Art Lounge Manila brings high fashion and fine art together by holding an exhibit featuring pieces by Filipino artist Migs Villanueva and Vares Jeune

Through "A Day At The Atelier", a collaborative project by Art Lounge Manila and Imprint Media Group, many are able to admire the brilliance of two Filipino visionaries: artist Migs Villanueva and fashion designer Robbie Santos.

Following the success of Santos' Voyageur, Art Lounge Manila hosts another fashion show and exhibit that merges fine art and fashion. But this time, the pieces are made for kids, allowing parents to cultivate their children's sense of style.

Santos, who began a children's couture line, Vares Jeune, provided his pieces as a canvas to Villanueva.

“Vares Jeune is bespoke luxury. It is a reflection of the child’s parents’ taste that would prompt him or her to wear the label. I advocate fashion that is beautiful and durable, a stark contrast to today’s fast fashion. I love seeing kids in wonderful outfits, whether dressy or casual, while at the same time being their usual precocious selves,” says the designer.

Villanueva's recognisable work, which depicts children's faces using three dots for the eyes and mouth, is an ideal fit for Santos'.

The three-time Palanca Award winner conveyed the same joy and innocence found in her work to the pieces. Most of these are inspired by the children she's known.

She shares, “The kids in my painting are a composite of all the children I have known, including myself, from what I remember as a child. Through the years I’ve depicted all sorts of personalities of kids in my art, and the moods and attitudes somehow mirror my own at the time of doing the work, or what I dig up from my memory bank.”
