Kylie Jenner wore a vintage gown to the Golden Globes for the second year running: 8 archival looks worn by celebrities over the years

Last year, Jenner similarly flexed her vintage sartorial credentials by stepping out in a 1998 Hanae Mori haute couture gown. The late designer was Japan’s pioneering fashion designer and founded the first Asian haute couture brand. Mori was also one of just two Japanese women who have had their collections presented on the runways of Paris and New York. These accolades make the plunging lace gown worn by Jenner a truly rare vintage, and a piece of wearable art.

But Jenner isn’t the only A-lister with a penchant for stunning vintage gowns. From Zendaya in an archival Versace dress (Beyoncé wore the same one in 2003) to Bella Hadid in an iconic white column dress from Tom Ford’s Gucci 1996, scroll on to discover some of the best vintage designer looks on red carpets.

Ariana Grande embodied the grace of style icon Audrey Hepburn at the 2025 Golden Globes, wearing haute couture from 1966 designed by Hubert de Givenchy himself. She paired the ethereal beaded gown with white opera-length gloves and diamonds. 

As befitting a Dior brand ambassador, Anya Taylor-Joy walked the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet in a dreamy, blush pink slip dress from the Dior archives. She completed her ensemble with a floral statement necklace from Tiffany & Co, and Jimmy Choo sandals. 

The Espresso singer was nominated for six VMA awards this year, and took home the prize for Song of the Year. To mark the occasion, Sabrina Carpenter slipped into vintage Bob Mackie, a metal mesh maxi dress with a sweetheart neckline, worn by Madonna in 1991.

Fresh off the fashion-filled Dune: Part Two press tour, Zendaya sheds the space-opera aesthetics and turns once again to the archives. For her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Challengers actress donned a Ralph Lauren Collection blazer dress from the label’s 1992 season.

Famously worn by Elizabeth Hurley to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, the Versace safety pin dress makes a comeback via Lady Gaga at an event in Milan.

Hadid attended the Cannes Film Festival wearing the white cut-out column dress, one of Tom Ford’s most iconic looks for Gucci.

In 2021, Zendaya turned heads at the BET Awards wearing the same dress from Versace’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection that Beyoncé wore to perform at the BET Awards that year.

For the annual CFDA Fashion Awards, only vintage Mugler will do. Jenner does just that with a gown from Mugler’s Autumn/Winter 1999 collection to the glamorous event.
