Stefano Ricci is deeply committed to the “100 per cent Made in Italy” ethos, strongly emphasising celebrating and enriching Italian artisanship while steadfastly upholding sustainable practices
For the spring-summer 2024 collection campaign, the renowned menswear and lifestyle brand Stefano Ricci chose the stunning backdrop of the Galapagos Islands, capturing the essence of nature’s richness. “The vibrant and diverse colours of nature serve as an inspiration, creating a symphony of pure, light, and flexible elegance tailored for the man who ventures around the world, discovering unexplored lands,” explained Filippo Ricci, the brand’s creative director, who collaborates with his brother Niccolò, the company’s CEO.
This collection features softer cuts and a new take on the traditional Sahara jacket. It also embodies the SR Explorer Project, the company’s new storytelling direction. Niccolò finds it ambitious yet timely for the brand to put the environment at the forefront of its messaging. “[It] accounts for our environmental responsibility towards the younger generations,” he says.

In the Galapagos Islands, the brand contributed to researching and monitoring giant tortoises affected by climate change. In Mongolia, it supported the study and reintegration of the royal eagle into its natural habitat. Cambodia focused on planting 5,000 trees to reintroduce Asian elephants into the wild forests.
The brand did not only use these locations as inspirations for its collections or mere backdrops for its lookbooks. Rather, it left a tangible sign of sustainability effort in every country touched by Stefano Ricci.

Earlier than this, the brand paid tribute to the Arbiter Elegantiarum Gabriele d’Annunzio, at the Vittoriale degli Italiani, presenting the spring-summer 2017 collection and creating a bespoke suit to the poet’s measurements, donated to the estate’s museum. This endeavour opened the path for the brand to pay homage to places of Great Italian beauty, including Castello di Sammezzano, the Antico Setificio Fiorentino, Vittoriale degli Italiani, the Stibbert Museum, Matera (the European capital of culture), the Mugello Circuit, the Balbo Castle, the island of Montecristo and, in 2019, Reggia di Caserta and Venice.
The brothers have been successfully carrying on the legacy of their parents who founded the brand in 1972. Considered one of the most sought-after high-quality luxury menswear and lifestyle brands today, Stefano Ricci began with its founder’s fervent passion for ties. What used to be a simple accessory item, ties were transformed into a real protagonist of menswear, thanks to then-twenty-year-old Stefano when he established his eponymous brand in 1972, grounded with the idea of leveraging Italian craftsmanship to produce its high-quality fabrics. Alongside his wife, Claudia, the Florentine designer brought the brand to greater heights and international recognition, reaching the racks of Neiman Marcus in the USA and Harrods in the UK.
From ties, the brand progressively expanded in the 1990s to leather goods, sartorial suits, sportswear, knitwear and footwear. Eventually, it harnessed the ancient Florentine goldsmith tradition, producing other accessories such as cufflinks and buckles using gold, platinum, diamonds, sapphires and other gems—making it an optimal one-stop choice for dapper men.
“My parents had an apparent mission based on the search for absolute quality, craftsmanship, and exclusive design,” says Filippo. We follow a path of excellence, always trying to innovate the tradition of impeccable Italian style, further extending this vision on men’s lifestyle products, and developing our interior design project.”
In October 2022, the brand celebrated its 50th anniversary in a historic site—Luxor, Egypt. For Stefano and his family, one of the defining moments of luxury in the peoples’ consciousness was Ancient Thebes, as evident in its magnificence in architecture, craftsmanship and fashion shown in the site’s temples and royal tombs’ images.
“The fashion event in Luxor was the crowning of a 50-year-long dream held by my parents,” Filippo says. “We couldn’t have imagined that 20 years after we published a book titled Luxor, we would have had the privilege of hosting an exclusive fashion event in the Temple of Hatshepsut for the first time in history,” he exclaims.
Imbued with values of honour, power and pride, the brand expanded further by launching the SR Home line, which featured porcelain and crystal dinner services, silverware, furnishings, luxury linens and leather home accessories. Eventually, it opened the luxury yacht division to cater to the requirements of a high-end clientele enthusiastic about specialised mega yachts. The brand also launched the SR Junior collection, introducing sophisticated taste and quality to the new generation. SR Home also participated at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2017 to introduce its furniture line. A year later, it collaborated with Arturo Fuente to create the OpusX-Stefano Ricci cigar.

According to Filippo, they started involving young talents in every production phase a decade ago, pairing them with experienced masters in each department. “We are investing in passing down the knowledge of Italian craftsmanship. Due to the high demand for tailored clothing, we recently acquired two companies specialising in high-quality, tailored pieces and trouser production, bringing our total number of tailors to 100,” he elaborates.
Furthermore, Stefano Ricci’s fall-winter 2024 collection introduces the Stefano Ricci Alpha Yarn, which Filippo dubs as the finest cashmere in the world. “This amazingly fine, structurally perfect, naturally white fibre comes from the undercoat of the Hircus goats from Alashan. The fibre measures 13.5 microns in diameter, and it is collected through an ancient hand combing technique, gently done on goats no older than 10 months of age and with a strict pedigree during the spring season,” he shares.
The transformation process from yarn to textile, to the finished garment, scrupulously observes principles that exalt the natural characteristics of cashmere—achieving absolute quality in every phase of production, unsurpassed thermoregulation and comfort, and attention to environmental and social sustainability.

“All these phases allow the garments to reach the highest properties of lightness, elasticity and resistance. This novel product is designed to symbolise innovation, beauty and sophisticated comfort,” the creative director says.
Stefano Ricci has been in China for 25 years and expanded to the Philippines in 2019. Filippo saw great potential in the Philippine market, leading him to open a boutique in Manila’s The Shoppes at Solaire. This expansion aligns with other openings in cities like Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, New Delhi and Phnom Penh, paving the way for future global investments.

The brand’s strength lies in the bond among the Ricci family members who lead it, starting with Filippo and Niccolò. The two gained valuable experience working at international fashion expositions and in an American department store before joining the family business. Niccolò focuses on economic and financial aspects; Filippo oversees production, research and development, and image and communication campaigns.
“With this work division, we continue to create ambitious projects, always counting on our father’s extraordinary design capabilities and vision and our mother’s passion and competence in quality control and special orders,” Filippo remarks.
