An enduring emblem of the effortless grace and audacious femininity of its namesake princess, the Lady Dior is timeless tribute to the spirit of the women who carry it—unfettered by limitations, ever-evolving yet always true to their core. Since 2016, the Dior Lady Art Project has celebrated the essence of this iconic bag whilst pushing the boundaries of what it represents, inviting visionary artists from around the world to transform the Lady Dior into a vibrant expression of their artistic universes.

For the ninth edition of this annual project, the house of Dior tapped eleven extraordinary artists to reinterpret the classic Lady Dior, each infusing their unique creative visions and cultural narratives into its form. With 30 pieces in total, here are five of our favourites.

Liang Yuanwei, a Chinese artist renowned for her intricate, textured canvases, transforms everyday experiences and the drift of time into extraordinary visual symphonies. Drawing inspiration from her Golden Notes series and the rare Ru ware from the Song Dynasty, Liang translated her two-dimensional painting into the three-dimensional design of the Lady Dior through a 3D printing process. The bag itself is an homage to her Chinese heritage with its celadon green hue and gold metal accents. Its surface crackles like ancient porcelain, each stroke a puzzle-like formation capturing its transformation across the passage of time.

For almost seven decades, Faith Ringgold dedicated her creative work to challenging and reshaping societal perceptions surrounding racial identity and gender inequality, bridging activism with fine art. Before her passing in April 2024, Ringgold reimagined some of her most acclaimed works into six Lady Dior bags, including a rendition of the George Washington Bridge from her children’s book Tar Beach, complete with the her empowering quote, “Anyone can fly, all you gotta do is try” inside the handles of the bag.
The Dior Lady Art Project #9 collection will be available in Dior boutiques, including the upcoming new outlet at The Gardens Mall.
