The New York-based stylist has not only been dressing stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Adam Driver and Kaia Gerber but is also quietly influencing recent red carpet trends

Fashion lovers and fashion media have recently been obsessing over the rise of two new It-girls: Greta Lee and Ayo Edebiri. While they have been sweeping the awards this past few months with their performances in the film Past Lives and TV series The Bear respectively, they have also consistently impressed on the red carpet with their sartorial choices.

Behind their style statement is New York-based stylist Danielle Goldberg, who has worked in the industry for over a decade and boasts an impressive list of celebrity clients, from Katy Perry to Kaia Gerber. This is what you should know about the talented stylist, from her roots to her rise.

1. Goldberg cut her teeth at ‘Vogue’ and fashion studios

Prior to working as an independent stylist, Goldberg worked in fashion media in the early 2000s—at Vogue and T: The New York Times Style Magazine—and at multimedia fashion studio Pier 59 Studios. She has also worked for the acclaimed late fashion editor and celebrity stylist Annabel Tollman.

2. The Met Gala in 2009 put Goldberg on the map

One of Goldberg’s defining moment came in 2009 when she styled celebrity twins Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen for the Met Gala, the theme of which was The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion. She styled the former in a lacy grey vintage Christian Lacroix gown, and the latter in a crisp white dress from The Row, the sisters’ own brand.

Goldberg collaborated with them again for the Met Gala in 2011—whose theme was Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty—dressing Ashley in an off-shoulder Dior gown and and Mary-Kate in a striking red Givenchy gown.

3. Goldberg’s celebrity clientele is wide ranging

Besides Lee, Edebiri and the Olsens, Goldberg has also dressed the likes of Ethan Hawke, Katy Perry, Laura Harrier, Olivia Rodrigo, Julia Garner, Olivia Cooke, Shailene Woodley, Alexa Chung, Adam Driver and Kaia Gerber. She has also styled advertisement campaigns for Steve Madden and The Row.

4. Goldberg’s style is impacting fashion trends

The way Goldberg’s been dressing her A-lister clients has not only elevated their personal styles but has also influenced recent fashion trends such as minimal accessorising on red carpets—like Lee’s subtle look at the SAG Awards 2024—and vintage-yet-modern silhouettes at award ceremonies—think Edebiri in a classic-with modern-touches Bottega Veneta gown at the Bafta Film Awards 2024.

5. Goldberg is lowkey in her private life

According to The New York Times, in which Goldberg appeared in an interview last month, in her personal life, the stylist is quite a private person, who doesn’t like to spend too much time away from home if possible.

This lowkey side to her also reflects itself on her Instagram page where she almost only shares updates about her work, seldom posting personal updates, such as her pregnancy announcement.

Her younger sisters Arielle Charnas and Michaela Podolsky are also accomplished in their own careers—the former is a fashion influencer and the latter a blogger.
