The visionary spirit of Criselda Lontok endures with a new collection

Three years after her passing, the legacy of Criselda Lontok continues to thrive as her label unveils fresh, new creations. Her namesake brand recently launched its Cruise-Holiday 2024 featuring pieces imbued with her signature style made for the cosmopolitan woman. Clients, friends, and colleagues of the late designer gathered at the Criselda boutique in Rustan’s Makati.

The event featured an assortment of colourful daytime and resort wear, each piece reflecting Lontok’s instantly recognisable palette rife with bright hues and elegant, flowing silhouettes.

The collection includes 16 stylish and easy-to-wear ensembles, thoughtfully designed for three distinct occasions: casual chic, semi-formal, and formal. Drawing inspiration from the fashion of the Sixties, the designs showcase bold geometric patterns, elegant A-line silhouettes, and caftans. Each piece is crafted from luxurious fabrics, including silk, brocade, lace, and crepe, exuding modern sophistication with a timeless, mid-century appeal.

Lontok’s designs have long been a go-to choice for Manila’s elite women, prominently showcased at Rustan’s Makati, where the designer had worked for 35 years. This latest collection follows the Criselda Retrospective, which was held at the same location last September 2023.

Lontok began her career at Rustan’s as a buyer and merchandiser and honed her skills under the mentorship of Glecy Tantoco. Her label remains a cornerstone of the luxury department store, even after her passing in 2021 at the age of 81. Today, the Criselda brand flourishes under the creative leadership of renowned designer and longtime friend Inno Sotto.
