Little Monsters can now enjoy Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica Ball’ on HBO Go. As fans rave over her striking wardrobe, Tatler lists the designers who worked to make the show more magical
On the verge of reaching two decades in the pop music industry, Lady Gaga remains as captivating as ever. The star’s rise to world superstardom has been all-conquering. Growing up in a strict Catholic household in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York, she was inspired by a wave of avant-garde artists from the ’60s and ’70s.
At 19, Gaga moved to the Lower East Side to perform in burlesque at dive bars, where she likely developed her distinct fashion sense.
Fast forward to 2022, she is back onstage, donning striking ensembles from Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, Paula Rowan, and more. Read on to learn all about the Chromatica Ball designers.

1. Gareth Pugh

London-based fashion designer Gareth Pugh has been working with Gaga since 2009. At 14, Pugh was already working as a costume designer for the National Youth Theatre. His graduation collection as a fashion design student at Central Saint Martins captured the attention of Dazed & Confused magazine, which placed one of his designs on its cover shortly after that.
In 2022, the designer made a custom top for Chromatica Ball: A v-neck tank with puffy leather sleeves paired with paper-bag waist pants.
2. Alexander McQueen
Gaga has always been vocal about Alexander McQueen’s impact on her life. The British fashion designer founded his eponymous label in 1992 and was also the chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001.
At the BRIT Awards 2010, Gaga performed an acoustic rendition of Telephone, a dedication to McQueen, who had then recently died by suicide. In her Born This Way album, the singer also dedicated a track called Fashion of His Love to the late designer.
Gaga was also seen wearing a McQueen piece at the Chromatica Ball: A molten metallic gold moiré cropped tailored jacket, sleeveless shirt, and wide-legged trousers.

3. Paula Rowan
Irish-Dublin-based designer Paula Rowan was behind the fabulous gloves worn by Gaga in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci (2021). “Lady Gaga is a style innovator who embodies my own design beliefs: adventure, playfulness, sensuality, and classic re-invention,” Rowan said in an Instagram post. “I’m so thrilled that she has chosen my gloves for her iconic Chromatica Ball world tour. I had to pinch myself a few times last night as I saw the images appearing!”
During the Chromatica Ball, Gaga was seen wearing black fingerless gloves by Rowan.
4. Topo Studio NY
Topo Studio is a fashion label founded by Gaga’s sister, Natali Germanotta, with Anida Qerimaj. For the Chromatica Ball, the brand created a custom muscle-esque organza with sequins and puffed shoulders, which the singer paired with black leather boots.
5. Dead Lotus Couture
Dead Lotus Couture was behind Gaga’s custom-made purple and black latex bodysuit. Founded by Italian-Japanese designer Nange Magro, the brand is known for its bespoke latex and fabric-latex designs.
6. Xtian de Medici
Xtian de Medici by American couture and costume designer Christian de Medici is a brand launched in 2015 by the House of Medici. For the Chromatica Ball, the designer worked closely with Gaga to produce a headpiece that suits the singer’s Dead Lotus Couture latex.
