Parisian fashion house Casablanca puts a playful, sporty spin on the Bulgari Serpenti motif, in a capsule collection that evokes the effortless elegance of summer in the Mediterranean
Game, set, match. Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti motif meets sport in a capsule collection produced in collaboration with Casablanca, the Parisian house that has made its unique mark on the luxury fashion circuit for its tropical, athleisure-inspired designs.
The collection is part of the Italian brand’s ongoing collaborative series, Serpenti Through the Eyes Of, which, since 2017, has brought to life various incarnations of the Bulgari snake as imagined by talented designers from around the world.
Casablanca’s interpretation of the emblematic Serpenti sees a playful spin on classic on-court style and Mediterranean motifs. Marked by an elegant mix of white perforated calf leather, bold green accents, colourful prints, gold hardware and wood handles, the mesmerising collection is reminiscent of the days when sport and sophistication went hand in hand, and when a friendly match on a sun-drenched court was always followed by leisurely cocktails at a leafy palazzo courtyard.
“With Bulgari, we share the same love and respect for timeless codes and the ambition to interpret them in new ways: this is the prism we have played with in this collaboration,” says Charaf Tajer, the French Moroccan creative director and founder of Casablanca. “The collection is both modern and classic at the same time. Serpenti has a 1,000-year-old iconography behind it and we wanted to bring it back once more but in a modern way, playing with its aesthetic features.”
The capsule collection, which comprises just seven exclusive pieces, will be divided into two launches. The first, titled Après Tennis, will launch on April 20. It takes on four bag styles, elevating them with a distinguished white and green colourway as well as Bulgari’s iconic snake’s head featuring enamelled scales and gem-set eyes in a matching palette.
In this collection, the unmistakable Serpenti Forever shape is a wonderfully nuanced expression of luxury meets leisurewear, and can be carried by hand via a detachable wood handle, or worn cross-body by switching it out for a removable leather strap.
Meanwhile, the ornate Jewellery Box is a sculptural bag set to make big impact. Featuring a zipper with the iconic snake’s head as pull tabs, it pays tribute to a 1920s jewellery box from the Bulgari Heritage collection. Functional and fierce, the roomy Tote bag makes a striking statement with a crisp tennis-white body with a bold green Bulgari logo emblazoned across. It features elegant wood handles for a practical and chic finish.
For those partial to smaller styles, the collection debuts an entirely new shape with the mini Serpenti Crossbody bag. Don’t let its size fool you—the youthful and versatile flat bag is rich with elegant details, from the gold-plated mesh interspersed with Casablanca’s logo to Bulgari’s signature snake’s head closure.
The second release is a love letter to Bulgari’s Roman heritage. Named the Mosaic Story, it encapsulates the enchanting mosaics that adorn the Eternal City’s villas and architectural landmarks.
Defined by intricate patterns and contemporary pastel hues, Mosaic Story fuses contemporary neoclassicism with Casablanca’s trademark eternal-summer feel across three styles: the Serpenti Forever, the Tote bag and the new Serpenti Crossbody bag.
In this collection, arriving in stores on May 20, the vivacious patterns are printed in a raised texture on the bags’ calf leather body, to authentically convey the three-dimensional texture of Roman mosaics. The result is a statement-making aesthetic that is as timeless and eternal as the city that inspired it.
