From front row appearances to campaigns, Jennie in Chanel has become a familiar presence in the house’s modern image

For nearly a decade, Jennie Kim of Blackpink has maintained one of the most visible relationships between a K-pop star and a Paris fashion house. Since her early appearances at runway shows to global campaigns and red carpet moments, Jennie in Chanel has become a much-awaited recurring presence across the brand’s modern image. The partnership began during the later years of Karl Lagerfeld’s tenure and has continued through the house’s evolving leadership and aesthetic shifts. What makes the collaboration notable is its consistency. Jennie appears at couture presentations, stars in seasonal campaigns and frequently integrates the brand into both performance wardrobes and off-duty style. Over time, appearances of Jennie in Chanel have moved from ambassadorial to something closer to visual shorthand for a younger generation encountering the house.

Jennie’s relationship with Chanel began in 2017, when she was announced as a Korean ambassador for the label. At the time, Karl Lagerfeld was still overseeing the house, and the decision signalled Chanel’s interest in the growing cultural reach of K-pop. Jennie soon began attending the Paris shows and appearing in editorial work connected to the brand.

After Lagerfeld’s death in 2019, his successor Virginie Viard maintained the relationship. Jennie continued to attend runway presentations and appeared in several campaigns, including Chanel’s Coco Neige winter line. The brand’s association with Jennie expanded through the early 2020s as her global visibility increased through Blackpink.

Within a few years, Jennie in Chanel had become a familiar sight at Paris Fashion Week. She regularly appeared in front-row photographs wearing variations of tweed jackets, miniskirts and the house’s signature quilting, often styled in ways that balanced Chanel’s classic codes with a contemporary silhouette.

Some of Jennie’s most widely circulated Chanel appearances have taken place on international red carpets and at fashion week shows. At the 2023 Met Gala, which honoured Lagerfeld’s legacy, Jennie wore a vintage Chanel dress originally designed by the late designer in the 1990s. The look featured a white camellia motif and black ribbon detailing, referencing the house’s longstanding floral emblem.

Her regular appearances at Paris Fashion Week have also produced a steady stream of memorable outfits. These often include cropped tweed jackets, pearl accessories and quilted bags, worn with modern styling such as shorter hemlines or layered jewellery. In these settings, having Jennie in Chanel highlights how the house’s traditional materials translate to contemporary celebrity dressing.

Campaign work has further reinforced the connection. Jennie has fronted advertising for the Coco Neige collection and appeared in visuals promoting Chanel accessories. Across these campaigns and public appearances, Jennie functions as both ambassador and recurring muse within the brand’s visual storytelling.

When Matthieu Blazy was appointed artistic director of Chanel in December 2024, the house entered a new creative phase. Blazy previously led Bottega Veneta, drawing attention for its emphasis on material innovation and refined structure. This design language is likewise shaping Chanel’s new phase, and Jennie’s public image aligns naturally with the approach. Her style often mixes classic elements with contemporary proportions, something already visible in the way she wears Chanel tweed sets with shorter skirts, layered jewellery or modern accessories. Photographs of Jennie in Chanel demonstrate how the house’s classic signatures can be worn by a younger generation without losing their recognisable structure.

As Chanel continues in this new creative chapter, the brand’s network of ambassadors inevitably shapes how its collections appear beyond the runway. Among them, Jennie of Blackpink remains one of the most recognisable pairings between a contemporary performer and a historic fashion house. From front-row appearances in Paris to campaign imagery and red carpet moments, we’ll be seeing more of Jennie in Chanel in Fashion Week events to come.
