Chinese star Fan Bingbing was a true champion of Asian designers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but she wasn’t the only one to celebrate the craftsmanship and creativity of designers from this region.
Many celebrities, with many being of Asian descent themselves, chose this prestigious international platform to show off the work of fashion designers from India, South Korea, the Philippines and more. Here are seven Asian designers who curated standout looks at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

1. Shushu/Tong
Liushu Lei and Yutong Jiang are the duo behind the Shanghai-based womenswear label Shushu/Tong, which was founded in 2015. Their style is unabashedly feminine, which sometimes juxtaposes neutral colour palettes with pops of colour and a liberal use of bows, flowers and frills that evoke a Victorian aesthetics.
Blackpink’s Jennie, who attended Cannes for her acting role in the upcoming HBO series, The Idol, showed her support for the brand by sporting a chic black gown with a white pleated trim from its autumn/winter 2023-2024 collection during her photocall. For the “human Chanel” to deviate from her usual head-to-toe Chanel ensemble, Shushu/Tong must be doing something right.
