What are the biggest haircut trends for 2025? Are we moving towards edgier, more experimental styles or a return to effortless, classic cuts?
At Portfolio, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. The biggest haircut trends for 2025 strike a balance between bold experimentation and a return to timeless classics. Every haircut is thoughtfully tailored to an individual’s face shape, proportions, and lifestyle, ensuring a look that enhances their unique features. Our philosophy is simple: great hair should inspire confidence.
This year, we’re seeing a blend of classic shapes with a modern edge. Timeless cuts are being redefined with subtle, unexpected details. Whether it’s a sharper bob, softer layers, or bold yet wearable textures. The key trend is personalisation, allowing each style to feel effortlessly chic whilst reflecting individual expression.

What are the key shades defining 2025’s colour palette? And what makes these colours so desirable this year?

2025’s colour palette is all about the seasonal shades of brown. Deeply inspired by nature, celebrating the rich, organic beauty of earthy and mineral tones. This year, we’re embracing shades that feel both grounding and sophisticated, reflecting a sense of warmth, vitality, and understated luxury.
In our MetaMorph collection, key colours include taupe, russet, terracotta, tobacco brown, and Tuscan tan hues. These tones are desirable because they offer versatility and timeless appeal, effortlessly complementing different skin tones and personal styles. They bring a sense of depth and refinement, making them perfect for those who seek both elegance and authenticity in their look.

Are there any nostalgic styles making a comeback in hair trends this year? (e.g., ‘90s blowouts, ‘70s shags, Y2K spiky buns?)

There are definitely nostalgic influences in this year’s hair trends, but they’ve been completely redefined for the modern era. Rather than direct throwbacks, these styles have evolved with new techniques, updated shapes, and fresh terminology to suit today’s aesthetics and individuality.
For example, the iconic ‘90s blowout has transitioned into supermodel waves—still voluminous and glamorous but with softer, more effortless movement. The ‘70s shag has transformed into the wolf cut, offering a more tailored yet edgy take on layered, tousled hair. Meanwhile, the classic mullet has been reimagined as the mixie (a hybrid of a mullet and a pixie), bringing a more wearable, fashion-forward edge to the look.
This evolution reflects how trends are no longer just about revival—they’re about reinvention, adapting nostalgic styles to modern tastes and lifestyles while embracing diversity and self-expression.
What are the key influences shaping the latest hair trends, and how do personal style and self-expression play a role?
At Portfolio, we draw inspiration from fashion runways, where hair and style work together to create a complete look. These influences shape the latest trends, blending high-fashion aesthetics with everyday wearability.
Personal style and self-expression play a crucial role—hair is no longer just about trends but about individuality. Whether through bold cuts, natural textures, or custom colour, every hairstyle becomes a reflection of one’s identity. It’s about creating looks that feel authentic, empowering, and uniquely tailored to each person.
Who are the most popular celebrity hair inspirations amongst clients right now? Is there a specific look that clients have been consistently requesting to recreate?

Right now, clients are drawing inspiration from a mix of timeless icons and trendsetters who embody both effortless elegance and bold individuality. Celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Zendaya are frequently referenced for their sleek, polished bobs and soft, natural waves—styles that feel both sophisticated and modern. Matilda Djerf’s signature voluminous, ‘90s-inspired blowout remains a top request for those wanting a classic yet effortless look.
On the edgier side, Wednesday-era Jenna Ortega and Florence Pugh have sparked interest in tousled shags, wolf cuts, and textured lobs, appealing to those who want a bit of rebellion in their style. For shorter cuts, Emma Corrin and Zoë Kravitz’s pixie variations continue to influence clients looking for something sharp and fashion-forward.
Overall, whilst there are recurring celebrity inspirations, the focus has shifted toward customisation—clients want to take elements from these looks and adapt them to their own face shape, texture, and personal style.
The MetaMorph collection is all about transformation—how did you conceptualise this theme, and how do the cuts, colours, and styles reflect the concept of transformation on both a personal and artistic level?
The MetaMorph collection was born from the idea that transformation is at the core of both personal growth and artistic evolution. We wanted to capture the fluidity of change—how identity, emotions, and aesthetics shift over time—through bold cuts, dynamic silhouettes, and an interplay of textures and colours.
Each piece reflects transformation in a different way. The cuts evolve from structured to free-flowing, symbolising the journey from constraint to liberation. Colours transition from deep, moody tones to vibrant hues, mirroring the emotional spectrum of metamorphosis. Layering, asymmetry, and modular elements allow for multiple ways to wear and style the pieces, giving the wearer the power to shape their own expression—just as transformation is a deeply personal and ever-evolving process.
Artistically, MetaMorph challenges conventions by blending opposing elements—soft and hard, fluid and rigid, organic and geometric. This juxtaposition reflects the duality of transformation: it can be both deliberate and unexpected, subtle and radical. The collection is not just about change—it’s about embracing the beauty of becoming.
The collection reflects a duality between bold experimentation and refined elegance. How do you achieve that balance within a single look?
Balancing bold experimentation with refined elegance is all about contrast—playing with structure, texture, and detail in a way that feels intentional and effortless. In the MetaMorph collection, we achieve this by combining strong, sculptural elements with fluid, organic shapes. A sharp, tailored silhouette might be softened with flowing fabrics, or a bold, unconventional cut might be paired with a neutral, understated colour palette to create harmony.
Layering also plays a key role. For example, a sleek, minimalist base can be elevated with unexpected details—like asymmetry, modular components, or intricate textures—that add depth without overwhelming the look. It’s about pushing boundaries whilst maintaining sophistication, ensuring that even the most avant-garde pieces still feel wearable and timeless.
Ultimately, the balance comes from understanding proportions and restraint. Bold statements are made with precision, allowing each element to complement rather than compete, creating a look that is both daring and refined.
If you had to recommend one must-try look inspired by MetaMorph, what would it be?

There are so many exciting concepts in our MetaMorph collection, but if I had to recommend one must-try look, it would be:
Glass Hair—A mirror-like shine that enhances the natural dimension of balayage or highlights, especially around the face and hair lengths. This look adds depth and creates a luminous, radiant glow.
Another standout is the Contour Cut—inspired by makeup contouring, this cut moves away from blunt lines, embracing a multi-dimensional shape that enhances facial features and creates soft, natural movement.
