When it comes to maintaining glowing, healthy skin, the process goes beyond just applying products—it’s about creating a holistic routine that supports your skin’s natural functions and protects it from environmental stressors such as smoke and dust.

Nikki Tang, the ‘beautypreneur’ behind DMark Beauty Corporation, swears by combining skincare treatments and mindful daily practices, whether through non-invasive treatments like HIFU and LED light therapy or a personalised skincare routine.

In this article, Tatler asks Tang to share her insights on the key elements of an effective skincare regimen, her favourite treatments for glowing skin, and more.

For Tang, one’s skincare steps should prioritise the skin’s health, enhance its natural radiance, and offer a moment of self-care. “I start with a double cleanse—using a deep cleansing balm to remove makeup and impurities, followed by a gentle second cleanser to ensure a fresh, clean base,” she reveals.

Tang follows this up with a toner, which is often overlooked but plays a vital role in balancing the skin’s pH, prepping it for the next steps, and delivering hydration or soothing.

This combination helps to create a barrier against pollutants while providing essential hydration and nourishment. She also emphasises the importance of layering a hyaluronic acid serum and a rich moisturiser to keep the skin supple and radiant while ensuring targeted care for delicate areas like the lips, eyes, and neck.

3. Don’t forget the lips, eyes, and neck

There are parts of the body we often forget when thinking about skincare. These are lips, eyes, and neck. “For my lips, I use a hydrating lip oil, and I always include targeted care for my eyes and neck to ensure these delicate areas are nourished and protected.”

Tang reminds us of the importance of hydration, sun protection, and following the advice of a licensed professional.

“What’s equally important is the role of pre-and post-care in achieving the best results and minimising risks. Proper preparation ensures your skin is in optimal condition before the procedure,” she says. “These steps should never be underestimated—they’re as integral to the process as the treatments themselves.”

“Sunscreen is non-negotiable—it protects your skin and helps preserve the barrier’s integrity,” Tang stresses. She also advises against cleansers with harmful chemicals.

“Use gentle cleansers and incorporate ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants to nourish and protect your skin,” she adds.

8. Consult a professional

According to Tang, nothing beats a skincare routine designed by a trusted dermatologist or skincare professional to avoid over-exfoliation or harsh treatments that could compromise your barrier.

“When you focus on strengthening your skin barrier and supporting its natural functions, you create a solid foundation for long-term skin health and beauty,” she concludes.
