In conversation with Dr Chong Ian, medical director of Euphie Clinic, we unpack the clinic’s journey thus far—from the opening of its second outlet to the vision driving its commitment to providing a transformative experience in aesthetic wellness

On the sunny afternoon of November 20, 2024, we invited friends of Tatler for an intimate soirée to celebrate the grand opening of Euphie Clinic at The Five, Damansara Heights. The vibrant atmosphere was brimming with enthusiasm as guests gathered to discover and explore the newly-opened beauty haven, with Euphie Clinic medical director Dr Chong Ian guiding them through the clinic's comprehensive range of cutting-edge treatments and its unique approach to aesthetic wellness.

Congratulations on the launch of Euphie Clinic’s second outlet! How’s everything been going since the opening?

It’s been great, the support has been tremendous. You know, I spent five years at my previous workplace, and whilst I learned a lot, there were definitely some things I thought could have be done differently—but one important thing I came to understand was that it was never my vision to drive. So the goal was to set something up that is representative of myself and reflects my own values, and partnering with SL Aesthetic Group felt like the perfect fit. My friends and family have heard me talk about this for three years, and now that we have Euphie, it’s so exciting to finally see my vision come to life.

On our opening day last November, we had the pleasure of celebrating the occasion with friends of Tatler, and it was really heartwarming to see everyone who showed up to support us. Time is such a precious resource, and when someone is willing to take time out of their day for you, it’s the best kind of support you could ask for. People in the industry have been very supportive as well, and many of my former patients have been incredibly loyal, so we’re off to a promising start.

Could you share some highlights of the design and ambiance at this new outlet? How does it reflect the Euphie brand?

To start off, Euphie’s roots are in Singapore, where its parent company, SL Aesthetic Group, is based. After 21 years of success there, they decided it was time to expand into Malaysia, and that’s when I came in as the medical director of Euphie to lead the operations here. The beauty clinics under the company in Singapore adopt a very feminine aesthetic with a lot of soft, pink colours. But at Euphie, we’ve gone for a more neutral, earthy palette to give the space a warm, cosy feel.

Because ultimately, aesthetic clinics are still medical spaces. We prescribe medications and perform treatments like lasers and injections, and it’s not exactly the most comfortable idea to go to a clinic and potentially get zapped with lasers or pricked with needles. We wanted to create a sanctuary—a space that almost feels like home instead of your typical cold, clinical environment—where our patients feel at ease the moment they step through the door. I even find it more relaxing than my own home, and I think when you love the space you work in, it shows, and our patients can feel that energy.

Can you tell us more about the treatments offered at Euphie Clinic?

The treatments we offer at Euphie Clinic involve a mix of energy-based devices and injectables that cater to various needs, and everything we do here is heavily backed by science and data to ensure we consistently deliver the best results for our patients.

In terms of energy-based devices, we have the Pico Laser to address all sorts of pigmentation concerns. We also offer radio frequency (RF) microneedling and monopolar RF treatments, which are great for skin rejuvenation, collagen stimulation, and skin tightening.

As for injectables, we have biostimulators, fillers, Botox, and skin boosters, which have really taken off in the last few years. They come in two varieties: those that hydrate the skin, typically using hyaluronic acid, and those that stimulate collagen production, such as polynucleotides, both of which can enhance your complexion.

Euphie Clinic positions itself as a sanctuary for inside-out beauty. What does this mean in practice for your patients?

When people think about aesthetic treatments, they often associate them with being shallow or superficial, but there's so much more to it than that. Everyone’s got their insecurities—that's just part of being human. Our aim is to give our patients that confidence boost, that feeling of being their best selves. That said, looking good on the outside starts with feeling good on the inside. Sure, we can help with things like clearing up pigmentation, smoothing skin, or reducing scars, but none of that will truly make a difference if you're not taking care of your overall well-being.

When patients come to us, it becomes this transformative journey where yes, we're enhancing their external appearance, but we're also building this relationship where we really understand their motivations and goals. We always encourage our patients to really think about why they're choosing certain treatments and how it will benefit them. Because if you're not clear about your 'why,' you probably won't be satisfied with the results, no matter how good they turned out to be.

For now, we mainly focus on facial medical aesthetics, but we do plan to expand into the wellness space. That could mean things like biohacking, lifestyle optimisation, or other ways we can help our patients feel their best from the inside out.

Euphie Clinic was born from a belief in creating euphoric experiences. How do you ensure this philosophy is carried through in every interaction with your patients?

When you position yourself as a premium aesthetic clinic, that's when people expect your time and expertise. So at Euphie Clinic, we have one doctor and one patient at a time—no overlapping appointments or rushing between rooms—allowing us to focus entirely on your care from start to finish.

But in a premium space, it’s not just about what you can offer; it’s about how you make people feel the moment they step through your door. It’s all in the small, thoughtful touches—greeting them with warmth, offering tea, tailoring the environment to their comfort, and generally just giving them that extra TLC.

What’s next for Euphie Clinic? Are there any plans for more outlets or perhaps exciting new offerings?

We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved so far. In the span of about five months, we’ve already launched two branches. There is Euphie Skin Solutions, our beauty salon brand, and now Euphie Clinic, which focuses on medical aesthetics. Right now, we’re focused on stabilising both clinics and making sure everything runs smoothly, but we definitely have our sights set on expansion because I think there's so much that we can offer.

We’re also looking forward to exploring more collaborations in the future. Our first partnership with Tatler Malaysia was such huge success, and we’re excited to do more of that with any potential like-minded partners to expand our reach and share our services to a wider audience.

Ultimately, what we really want Euphie Clinic to be is that go-to spot for premium aesthetic care. We want to be that place where people know they'll get the best experience and results, no question about it. And premium doesn’t have to mean out of reach, because we offer premium-level services at competitive, mid-range pricing to make it worth every penny.
