“Hair is the crowning glory” is a statement we just can’t stress enough. A study published by the National Library of Medicine shows the interconnectivity between one’s hair and mental health. According to the article, hair loss disorders may cause considerable distress to patients. “Hair loss disorders are interrelated with mental health and at times exert significant psychological percussions, and therefore, providers should address both medical and psychological aspects of treatment,” the research read.
In the Philippines, the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) revealed that 50 per cent of males will experience hair loss caused by androgenic alopecia by the time they reach the age of 40.
A similar research also showed that females also experience hair loss. By 70 years of age, at least 38 per cent of women have already acquired a condition called androgenic alopecia.

For hair regeneration expert Dr Halah Taha, there are many factors to consider when hair fall occurs. “There are many reasons, and we can start with the most common ones: genetic, stress, and hormonal imbalances, especially in women,” she says in a roundtable discussion.
She stresses the importance of taking good care of the hair through tested and proven methods and technologies like Regenera Activa.

What is Regenera Activa?
Regenera is an innovative treatment for male and female pattern hair loss. This advanced hair growth treatment uses a regenerative cell extracted from your own scalp to stimulate other areas that are starting to lose hair.
The scalp is injected with a special suspension containing growth factors and progenitor cells with extremely powerful regenerative properties. The treatment stimulates hair growth, thickens hair, and inhibits hair loss.
There are three steps to this treatment:
- Harvesting of micro-grafts
- Extraction of the regenerative cells through the Regenera protocol
- Microinjections
“So we must treat our existing hair to prevent thinning and hair fall. So, your genetics come in the middle between the topical and the injectable. We want to use our own body cells, our own body regeneration,” Dr Taha explains.
“If I ever have a hair fall and want to do something, I would also prefer a remedy from my body. Something that doesn’t take my time—it’s just 30 minutes and completely safe,” she adds.

There’s a difference between the Regenera Activa technology and hair transplant. “So with hair transplant, we are taking the hair from a certain area and transferring it to an area where the patient has hair loss. With Regenera Activa, we are not taking the hair, but the growth factor or exosomes,” Dr Taha says.
The hair regeneration expert also explained that Regenera Activa has no downtime. “With Regenera Activa, there will be no downtime. For example, with a transplant, there will be the dots bleeding and swelling. Here, there’s only 30-minute procedure compared to the transplant, which is four to eight hours and maybe more.”
According to Dr Taha, this new technology provides a great advantage for people who are always on the go. She also explains that it can be combined with hair transplant procedures.
“This is a huge advantage because we want something with no downtime. We don’t want to sit at home for a few weeks because we have the dots,” she says.
“We can combine it even with a transplant at the same session. It doesn’t matter because this technology takes something from our own body. It will help improve the results of transplant as well.”
