What is your skin type?

Normal or combination (oilier on the T-zone).

Who influenced your skincare routine?

My mother taught me the importance of taking care of my skin at an early age. I had acne as a teenager until my twenties and she encouraged me to take care of my skin.

What is your evening skincare routine?

I start with [RMK moist cleansing balm], a balm cleanser to remove makeup. I apply it on dry skin, massage it, then remove it with a sheet. Then I use a cleanser. I use a few: either SEKKISEI powder wash, HADA LABO hydrating wash, or Cetaphil. This one, I lather and rinse with water then pat dry [my face] with a towel.

Next, I use a toner. Depending on how my skin feels, I switch around La Mer treatment lotion, Tatcha Essence, or Kanebo dew moist lotion. I use a cotton pad to apply the product. Then, I apply serum using my fingers and gently press with my palms and I massage til neck area. My favourites are La Mer The Concentrate and Good Genes All In One lactic acid treatment. I then apply eye cream (I’m currently using Fresh Rose hydrating gel cream).

The last step is moisturiser. I use La Mer soft lotion or Tatcha water cream. During the colder season, I also apply La Mer renewal oil.

Once or twice a week, I exfoliate using Laura Mercier face polish or Gatsby face scrub then use a [Ya-Man and K-Derma RF] wand.

What is your holy grail product?

RMK moist cleansing balm and La Mer treatment lotion.

How did you find a skincare routine that works for you?

I just tried different products and saw what worked for me. I used to use foaming washes until realised [it made my skin oilier]. So I noticed non-foaming cleansers worked better on me. I also like trying new products. Unfortunately, sometimes my skin reacts, but that’s part of the learning process of finding what works for you.
What is a skincare hack you think we should know?

When travelling, use multi-use products (like toners with moisturisers) so your suitcase is not so heavy with all your products. I also use facial wet wipes to exfoliate when there’s none.

Do you use face masks?

I hardly use face masks. But maybe once a month I apply Origins clear improvement mask. I also recently learned about Snail White icy mask, I like the firm effect it gives.

Do you have a skincare horror story?

I once spent on a whole group of products that seemed to work while I was abroad.  Then when I came back to Manila, I realised it didn't work anymore (maybe because of the weather). It caused a skin reaction and I had to go through dermatological treatments. It took a while for my skin to adjust.

How often do you practise skin fasting?

I switch around the products every month. Same routine, but different products. Then I go back to them. I also skip the heavy creams during the summer.

Are there any skincare rules you’ve broken that have done wonders to your skin?

Maybe the opposite: I tried skincare products with infused gold—no effect on me.
