What is your skin type?

I would say I was combination before. It depends on how often I use makeup. Whenever I'm doing a show (which spans a month to three months) it will be dry because of all the cleansers I use just to remove the gunk from my face. But when I'm not working, it may go from combination to oily, depending on the weather.

But I've been really lucky because of genetics (in terms of my mom and my grandmother). I've been blessed with their skin. . . Fortunately, I got that worry-free kind of situation.

But now that I'm pregnant, it got sensitive really fast. So I use a whole load of different products mixed from inexpensive to expensive products to see what works for me.

What is your evening skincare routine?

I'm always wary of [fragrant products that I put on my face.] So ever since, I use Cerave facial cleanser especially nowadays—we don't wear makeup at all. But let's say I'm coming from doing a video shoot or a Zoom meeting and I have makeup on, I will probably use Laneige makeup remover. I also love the Muji cleansing oil.

I have a Mario Badescu toner. I particularly like anything with witch hazel because it really tones everything down—any kind of inflammation and any redness—and it's good for pregnancy.

I'm very partial to Korean products. I discovered them three to four years ago and started adapting them into my routine. So I have a red energy serum from Mamonde which really works for my skin. After that, I use the La Mer heavy-duty cream. Sometimes I will also use La Mer renewal oil but I do that usually during the day. The last thing I put on my face is Iope super vital eye cream, and it's also a Korean product.

Out of all the products you use, which ones do you consider a holy grail?

I would have to say the La Mer. Whether it be the renewal oil that I use during the day or the cream that I use at night, it really hydrates and takes care of the skin. Before, I was very impartial to things that are achingly expensive, [until] I tried it and saw the difference.

A lot of people say, "You don't really care about your skincare because you have nice skin, to begin with, so it's something you take for granted". But the thing is, as you get older, people notice all the flaws that you have right away.

Now that I'm 37, I have to be very careful. Ever since I adapted to La Mer, it's been a nice relationship with their beauty products.

How did you find a routine that works best for you?

I regularly go to facial care and they'll tell me the situation that I have on my skin because I would find my way to facial care and have treatment or an Ultra-V. So I at least have somebody telling me what the situation of my skin is at this point in time.

With regards to all the other things that I put on my face, it's really pick-and-choose and reading reviews.

I am always a believer if it's really expensive, there's got to be a reason.

Do you use face masks?

I stay away from masks because I get a little nervous when anything is on my face for a good 20 minutes. . .I feel like it might be too over on my skin because I tried it before and it dried up my skin.

Do you have a beauty horror story?

I went to a restaurant and I had a tuna salad. I had a show a few hours later, but maybe around an hour after I ate, I was red as a tomato and had red splotches everywhere. I was [supposed] to wear a gown and it was going to be a seen—and that was bad!

It was creams and steroids galore to calm it down. Eventually, it did but that's the bad thing about having great skin: the minute there's any kind of minuscule thing happening, [it's noticeable].

What is the most important skincare rule you follow?

I'll never go to bed with makeup on because I'm sure that the next day, I'll probably have a zit or a clogged pore. It doesn't feel right.

Have you ever tried skincare fasting?

I really don't want to fast. I try to keep it hydrated as possible. Pregnancy was a whole different ball game for me with regards to my skin. I was breaking out in places where I shouldn't be breaking out [and] I was getting dry. . . I really stick to the routine.
