The Luminisce founder, wellness expert and preventive medicine and aesthetic dermatology practitioner gives us tips on how to achieve beauty that glows from within
Glass skin is on-trend now. How can we achieve this?
Skin quality is dependent on genetics and lifestyle (60 per cent) and intrinsic ageing 40 per cent). I believe to be able to achieve glass skin, you need to provide anti-inflammatory food to fight off free radicals from the environment and drink at least three litres of water a day. At the end of the day, you are what you eat. Lessen or learn or how to manage stressors (work-life balance, toxins and moulds from the environment) and proper supplementation. Topical skincare is good, but we cannot really rely just on skincare if you have inherent skin concerns like acne, melasma and eczema and want glass skin. You might need to combine it with some lasers that will help with skin resurfacing and depigmentation.
What products or regimen can you recommend in achieving glass/ glowing skin?
A good quality vitamin c serum (at least 20 per cent), adapalene gel, physical sunblock (at least SPF 40), mild alpha and beta hydroxy acid peels (at least 20 per cent) once a month, laser treatment and even Botox (for rosacea and pigments caused by chronic sun exposure).

Studies have been made regarding the use of Botox for these indications. What skincare ingredients should we be careful of?
Topical steroids, if used for more than two weeks, as well as strong concentrations of retinoids and hydroquinone. You should consult your dermatologist.
Can you give us lifestyle tips for ageing gracefully?
When healing a person, we do not just focus on the body. We should be treating the body, mind, soul and spirit. To look well, you have to be well.
