What you need to know about the Japanese beauty brand's annual initiative to empower young girls and women

Clé de Peau Beauté and Unicef believe that the #KeyToABetterWorld lies in unlocking the power of girls through education, employment, and empowerment. In 2019, they partnered together to to do just that with Clé de Peau Beauté pledging to fund Unicef's Gender Equality programmes, the world's largest private sector contribution to this area, specifically to the Skills4Girls programme.

These programmes work to improve representation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Young girls and women are able to build their technical knowledge, as well as general skills, such as problem-solving, leadership, negotiation, and communication.

Extended for three years, this partnership is back in 2023 where US$3 from every purchase of The Serum will be donated to support Unicef's programs around the world—with a minimum guarantee of US$2.9 million. The Serum is one of the Japanese beauty brand's iconic products formulated with Skin-Empowering Illuminator, an ingredient specially developed to awaken the skin’s ability to repair itself, for the most radiantly youthful look.

“Across the world, 1 in 4 girls aged 15-19 is out of education, training or employment compared to less than 1 in 10 boys of the same age. Investment in their education and development has never been more crucial, as they are the leaders of the future," says Carla Haddad Mardini, Unicef's Director of Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships.

"Global challenges need global solutions and partnerships are critical to helping us create change. We are delighted to be partnering with Clé de Peau Beauté for another three years to continue supporting the next generation of girls to access education and learning opportunities, to help build their skills and support them with training and job opportunities.”
