Hollywood icon and the new face of Dior Capture, Charlize Theron shares her philosophy on beauty, self-care, and empowerment

Few names in Hollywood are as synonymous with strength and grace as Charlize Theron. An Academy Award-winning actress, producer, activist, and now the face of Dior Capture, she embodies a multifaceted modern woman. In an exclusive interview with Tatler Malaysia, Theron shares her thoughts on beauty, empowerment, and her unwavering commitment to self-care.

For Theron, Dior transcends mere luxury—it’s a celebration of women in all their diversity.  “Dior represents all women and consistently helps them feel beautiful and empowered, not just for special occasions but in their everyday lives,” she says. Theron adds that its products and social initiatives help women feel confident every day, and the new Capture campaign amplifies this message by honouring individuality: “It draws strength from within, revealing confidence through beautiful, youthful skin.”

Having long advocated for quality skincare, Theron sees it as essential to her overall health. “Your skin is your body’s largest organ and a huge part of your overall health. When I take care of my skin and use high-quality products, I look my best and feel my best,” she shares. Her routine is meticulous yet adaptable: mornings begin with serums, creams, and non-negotiable SPF, while evenings prioritise deep cleansing and red light therapy. “Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen,” she laughs, calling it her desert island essential.

Her first impression of the new Dior Capture Serum and Crème was nothing short of transformative. “I noticed an immediate tensing effect with the Serum—my skin felt firmer, and fine lines were noticeably smoother. Following with the Crème, I saw an immediate plumping effect. My skin glowed, and I felt hydrated all day. It’s the perfect consistency—not too heavy, not too thin. Using them together was the perfect combination, and my skin thanked me for it!”

Amid a demanding career, Theron finds solace in simplicity. “My kids force me to slow down,” she shares, describing how their joy reframes her perspective. Practicality defines her beauty hacks: frozen spoons combat puffiness, while pilates and rock climbing keep her endorphins flowing. For those who struggle to make time for skincare, Theron advises consistency. “Life is crazy. Life gets busy, but establishing a routine for yourself and being diligent gives you some sense of control in the chaos. Once you get into a rhythm, it becomes part of your day-to-day.”

Self-care, she emphasises, is more than just skincare. “I try to be cognisant of taking time for myself. I’m always so busy with my kids and making sure all their needs are met that sometimes it leaves little time for myself. But I think it’s imperative to set aside time every so often for a ‘treat yourself’ moment—whether that be a massage, a hot bath, or even a solo walk.”

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Theron recently took up rock climbing as part of her fitness regimen. “It’s been a fun and rewarding challenge, and I have stuck to my weekly pilates sessions, which I’m proud of.”

She’s gearing up for an exciting year in film and production. “I’m getting ready to shoot a really fun and intense movie for Netflix next year, and we’re wrapping up Old Guard 2, which I’m thrilled to share with the world. I’m also doing a lot of producing work with my company, Secret Menu, and I have some exciting projects in the TV and documentary space. 2025 is going to be busy!”

Theron’s parting words to women are a testament to the power of unity. “One of the most powerful ways to start embracing your power is by surrounding yourself with other women who are truly in your corner. When you have that network uplifting one another, celebrating wins together, and supporting each other through tough times—nothing is quite as empowering.”
