Ahead of Lipstick Day 2022, these are the best lip oils that we've tried and tested

For most of us, one of the final steps that help to complete a makeup look is adding some colour or shine to the lips. Nothing feels and looks better than keeping the lips well hydrated, especially under that dreaded face mask that we are all used to wearing now.

While it is sad that we are unable to show off our lip colour at all times (mainly indoors, unless you are eating or drinking), that doesn't mean you should completely forget about dressing up your lips.

World Lipstick Day 2022 falls on July 29 this year and we want to cast the spotlight on the lip product of the moment: lip oils. The biggest players in the market have been quick to release their own version of the ultra-popular lip oil now. And we're not complaining. After all, what's not to love? It's hydrating, easy to apply and more often than not, suitable for all.

We share our top picks below.

1. Hermes Beauty Hermesistible, Infused Care Oil

Hermes Beauty recently launched Hermesistible, a collection of six colour and scent-infused lip oils. Made from 97 per cent natural ingredients, the lip oil combines  nourishing skincare with make-up to offer a fresh and subtle result. Your lips will appear hydrated and smoothed, enhanced with a light touch of colour and a sweet fruity note.

2. Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil

Love the Dior Addict Lip Glow lip balm? It is also available as a glossy lip oil that protects and enhances the lips by bringing out their natural colour. As it does for most of its other cosmetic products, Dior Beauty focuses on pampering users by adding nourishing ingredients in its products. For the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, it is enriched with cherry oil and vitamin A and also features a delicious minty-vanilla scent.

There are 11 shades available, from deep mahogany to universal clear. Additionally, it is also a multi-tasker: besides wearing it on its own, you can also use it as a primer under lipstick, or as a top coat for volumising shine.

4. Fenty Skin Cherry Treat Lip Oil

Rihanna continues to prove that she is quite possibly the only celebrity beauty brand owner who can launch one successful product after another.

Just last month, she launched Fenty Skin’s new Cherry Treat Lip Oil. The luscious lip product promises to strengthen lips’ moisture barrier in just one week for softer, suppler lips. The plush doe-foot applicator makes it easy to use on-the-go and the clear, non-sticky formula effortlessly glides on the lips.

As its name suggests, the lip oil features a fruity, cherry-inspired scent.

“I love how soft and kissable my lips are after I apply this formula,” said Rihanna upon the launch of this product. Now if that doesn't convince you to try it, what will?
