Following the triumph of Barenia Eau de Parfum, Hermès unveils Barenia Eau de Parfum Intense. This creation is a delicate interplay of past and present, affirming that the most treasured memories remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
With this variation, Hermès perfumer Christine Nagel elevates the original through her own creative lens. Patchouli essential oil, a note in the first edition, is now deepened with patchouli absolute. Leather accords anchor the composition, weaving around butterfly lily and enchanting fruits. Oak wood shapes the structure, but without rigidity or weight. Through roasting, the oak transforms, unveiling warm, rum-like nuances that form the tender heart of Barenia Eau de Parfum Intense.

With its bolder, more alluring trail, the portrait of the Hermès woman emerges: instinctive beauty interlaced with the magnetic allure of leather. The fragrance shifts from a metaphor for Hermès’ celebrated Barenia leather to something tangible, almost palpable.
“When you touch Barenia leather, there is a fusion between the material and the leather,” explains Christine Nagel. “The leather responds to your touch.” This exchange of strength and tenderness is mirrored in the dialogue between tuberose and leather, where floral sweetness tempers leather’s untamed instinct, giving rise to a fragrance unlike any other.

This duality carries through to Philippe Mouquet’s bottle design. The light lacquer, with its amber glow, fades into a clear base marked with the Hermès signature. The metal plate, inspired by the Collier de chien bracelet, and the cap echo the original, while the Intense edition’s box with silver embossing is cloaked in the subtle rouge H. This emblematic shade radiates elegance while stirring emotion, unveiling a new facet of Hermès’ signature chypre.
