Can you really reset your skin? Christiane Werron, executive director for global education at Augustinus Bader, tells us about the all-new Skin Infusion

Augustinus Bader has built a cult following on the power of its TFC8® technology, a complex that guides key nutrients to our skin cells to activate renewal. Now, the brand is elevating its own gold standard with The Skin Infusion, an intensive 4-week program designed to fundamentally restore and rejuvenate the skin.

This new launch introduces an even more advanced version of TFC8®, paired with a potent plant-based Vitamin D Activator to strengthen the skin barrier and correct the complexion. To unpack the science behind this groundbreaking formula, we sat down with Christiane Werron, Augustinus Bader’s executive director for global education, who explains how this preservative-free infusion delivers a total skin reset.

Tell us about the innovations behind the Skin Infusion.

The Skin Infusion has an advanced TFC-8. It's a modification in the structure of the TFC-8 to give even better support to the skin. We saw that many of our consumers have a very high vitamin D deficiency due to the fact that we all use SPF 50 and above, and we all avoid the sun. However, the skin metabolises UV rays into vitamin D, which is essential for our immune system, for our metabolism, and cell duplication. So, with a plant-based vitamin D activator, we're supporting low levels of vitamin D to guarantee the best possible cell duplication.

The ingredients in the Skin Infusion also work extremely well to rebuild the barrier function of the skin. If this barrier function gets leaky, then the skin dries off, we get wrinkles and all of the things that we don't want. So the barrier functionality of the skin is rebuilt. That's why we consider the Skin Infusion as the boot camp for the skin.

When should you be using the Skin Infusion?

Whenever you go to boot camp, you have a special need for that, right? So for the Skin Infusion that could be: I have extremely dry skin and I don't know why. It could be you’re in the phase of menopause, where the hormones go up and down, and that relates directly to the barrier functionality. It could be after the end of a season; the skin is our most adaptive organ, so supporting the skin in those new adaptations to new seasons, or environments, is important. It could be that the skin is itchy, or that there is redness—those indicate that something is missing and extra support is needed for the skin. Or maybe you’re getting ready for your wedding coming up!

How do you make these extremely technical innovations accessible for consumers?

For my entire education team, it is important that we explain in pictures. For example, TFC-8 is the toolbox that gives your skin the chance to go into this daily renewal process by itself. Imagine: You just bought yourself a new TV set, you go to turn it on and nothing happens. So, you call a technician that you know. He says, ‘Oh, that's not a problem.’ But then he looks down and says, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t do it. I forgot my toolbox.’

And then will he be able to repair it? No, he won't. Even though he has the entire wisdom, the knowledge, he doesn't have the tools. So, this is what the TFC-8 does. It brings the building blocks to the right location at the right moment in time so that your skin can then go into a healthy repair process.
