According to Henley & Partners, a global advisory firm specialising in residency and citizenship through investment, more than 142,000 millionaires are expected to relocate to another country by 2025.
The Henley Private Wealth Migration Report 2025 also forecasts that the number of individuals with liquid assets exceeding US$1 million will rise to 165,000 by 2026. These figures suggest that wealthy individuals will increasingly look to other countries for new homes, aiming to optimise their assets through promising investment avenues, while enjoying greater privacy and security.
Many also seek an elevated lifestyle, from luxury villas to attentive, on-demand services such as fine dining, beauty, healthcare, and education. A cosmopolitan environment, underpinned by open-mindedness and liberal thinking, is equally appealing to this group.
United Arab Emirates: Golden visas and a lifestyle fit for the elite
Henley & Partners’ data confirms that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) remains a prime choice for the world’s wealthy. Over 9,800 millionaires are projected to establish citizenship here by 2025, compared with 6,700 last year. Arabian Business reported in July 2024 that more than 100 properties priced at USD 10 million or above were sold in the first quarter alone, an increase of 19 per cent over the same period in 2023.
Those relocating to the UAE can secure a golden visa or citizenship through substantial investment transactions. Dubai and Abu Dhabi in particular offer an array of world-class amenities—prestigious hotels, renowned restaurants, and a wealth of exclusive leisure and beauty experiences.
