邦瀚斯拍賣行(Bonhams)表示:「這是阿波羅樣本中唯一能夠合法出售的。阿姆斯壯踏上月球的第一步後隨即搜集了這些『月塵』,並且說出那句名言『這是我的一小步,卻是人類的一大步』。」早在2017年,裝著這些月塵採樣的袋子,被以180萬美元的價格拍賣,如今在袋中遺留的這批少量月球塵埃採樣,將在4/13公開拍賣,預計售價將在80 萬美元至 120 萬美元之間。

NASA認證是真的!

這批月球塵埃聽起來要不就是偽造品,要不就是不該能被拍賣的私人財產對嗎?事實上,這批月球塵埃已經被美國國家航空暨太空總署(NASA)間接證實是真品!

阿姆斯壯的阿波羅11號任務中,第一批從月球帶回的一公斤月球塵埃被裝在一個密封袋中,因為月球塵埃表面的電荷高,特別容易沾黏在袋子中,因此這是那一公斤月球塵埃樣本中遺留在袋中的少量殘餘。這個密封袋在NASA遺失後不久,在美國堪薩斯一個博物館中成為館長的私人收藏,這位博物館館長因為私下出售博物館藏所以被起訴,因此這個密封袋被出售來支付館長的賠償金。而買到這個袋子的人想知道究竟是不是真的月球粉塵,於是送去NASA檢測。

NASA工作人員用雙面碳膠帶把袋子裡殘留的月球塵埃全部都取出,測試後發現真的是阿波羅11號任務中阿姆斯壯帶回來的月塵,於是向這名提供密封袋做檢測的買家提出訴訟,要求賠償。不過法官判定買家勝訴。當法官判定買家勝訴,袋子應歸還給買家後,也判定其中取出的月球粉塵也應一併歸還,因此這是歷史上唯一一批合法可買賣的月球塵埃。

「我們只有一袋月球岩石樣本,但我們有很多太空人。」

美國國家航空暨太空總署(NASA)的出版物中關於採樣時也有一些有趣的小故事,「阿波羅 11 號月球樣本信息目錄 (JSC 12522)」中指出:「阿波羅 11 號任務的主要目標是讓人類登陸月球表面,收集月球材料進行研究,並且讓船員和樣本都平安回到地球。負責採集樣本的海軍蛙人回收小組成員麥克馬洛里(Mike Mallory)表示:『我們被告知先拯救月球岩石,因為我們只有一袋月球岩石樣本,但我們有很多太空人。』」紀錄中也提到,阿姆斯壯踏上月球後,他太想要多拍一些照片,以致於忘記優先採樣月球岩石,休斯頓總部只好多次出言提醒,因為這是一個更高優先級別必須完成的任務,以免途中出現問題:「NASA不希望大老遠到了月球,卻一丁點月球樣本都沒有帶回來供學術研究。」

「像星空一樣美」

阿姆斯壯在說出名言「這是我的一小步,卻是人類的一大步」後,隨即把注意力轉向了月球塵埃,他對休斯頓描述:「月球表面平整充滿粉末,我可以用我的腳趾鬆鬆地踢起它們,粉末附著在細緻的層次中,就像是粉末狀的炭,附著在我的鞋底和側邊。我大概只陷入八分之一英吋,但我可以清楚看見我的腳印。」而阿姆斯壯在採集樣本時也描述了當下情形:「這很有趣,它是個非常柔軟的表面,當我用樣本採集器到處插入採集時,我會遇到堅硬的表面,但它似乎是具有黏性的材料。與阿姆斯壯一起上月球的太空人艾德林(Buzz Aldrin)在記錄中也說到「月球塵埃非常漂亮」阿姆斯壯形容,月球塵埃自帶星空般之美,有點像是高地沙漠,因為裡面有許多岩石碎屑與礦物斑晶。
