At this year’s event, over HK$2.5 million was awarded to select humanitarians. This included Czarina Leung, the founder of the non-profit Be Priceless, which focuses on health education and works towards the well-being and safety of children across Hong Kong; she was awarded The One Hong Kong prize, one of the main prizes at the event. Chiara Castellani, an Italian medical missionary based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was awarded The One International prize. The money raised at the gala dinner—which included a live auction and raffle ticket, as well as private donations and table sales—will go towards humanitarians honoured at future editions of the awards.

The awards, which returned last year after a three-year hiatus, was co-founded in 2012 by David Harilela and the Hong Kong chapter of the global humanitarian service organisation Rotary International. It was created with the goal of empowering and rewarding individuals who dedicate their lives to serving others in need.
