Here’s what you missed:  More than one hundred sport enthusiasts united for a friendly game of golf in the name of charity on September 30. The Fanling Hong Kong Golf Club course played host to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and its second annual golf day, an event to raise awareness and funds for the organisation. Founded in 1951 in the US and now spanning 79 countries, TNC advances nature-based solutions to environmental issues, while addressing the threats of climate change and biodiversity loss.

Players including Asia’s Most Influential honourees Bryant Lu and Filippo Gori, each dressed in their golfing best, arrived for an 8.30am tee off. Despite heavy rain ending the game early, the event, which was sponsored by Goldman Sachs, IPG Howden and Klook, raised over HK$1.5 million. The money will go towards conservation, restoration and improved land initiatives to increase carbon storage or avoid greenhouse gas emissions across the globe.

TNC’s work spans reforestation efforts in China and coastal wetland restoration in Hong Kong to critical rainforest and orangutan protection in Indonesia. The organisation is committed to conservation projects and educational programmes around the world, and their second annual golf day was a reminder of the imminent threat of climate change and the importance of taking action to prevent it.
