The fundraising project features 25 inspiring women who are hoping to raise $5,000 each to fund the organisation’s support programmes
An advocate of the early detection of breast cancer, the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) provides support for the community along with subsidies to low‑income women for mammogram screenings. BCF marked its 25th anniversary this year with the official opening of its Breast Cancer Centre at Sin Ming Court in January. This integrated space allows for the community to gather, share their experiences and support one another.
There is also a slew of initiatives to commemorate this milestone, including a 25 SHEROes fundraising project initiated by 25 inspiring women, who hope to raise $5,000 each to fund BCF’s support programmes. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we highlight five of the 25 women and find out more about their fundraising projects.
Krissy Jesudason

In 2021, Krissy Jesudason walked the circumference of Singapore over five days in support of BCF. This year, the actress, HIIT kick‑boxing coach and personal trainer will make the nearly 140 km journey once again, from March 8 to 12, in memory of her stepmother Sharon, whom her family lost to cancer in 2019.
Jade Kua

A senior emergency medicine specialist, Jade Kua is also a qualified life coach and published children’s book author. Her fundraising efforts for the project is driven by the sale of her hardcover book on mindfulness, Good Night Marion, and a pair of pyjamas; $50 from the sale of each set will be donated. Some of the illustrations in the book, along with limited‑edition merchandise, were created by her daughter Marion.
Chia Su-Mae

After her mother’s passing from breast cancer in 2020, many approached Chia Su-Mae, the founder of skincare label BSKIN, with fond memories of her food. Chia is thus recreating a selection of her late mother’s recipes in Liddat Liddat Lor bake boxes, so named to reflect her mother’s approach to fighting the disease—and her way of saying, “Let’s do whatever needs to be done”.

Noorisha Gafoor

A child of a breast cancer survivor, Noorisha Gafoor is the second‑generation entrepreneur of real estate agency PropNex. She reached out to family, friends and colleagues, selling high tea sets paired with personalised cards as a way for the recipients to pay it forward and surprise their loved ones while spreading awareness on breast cancer.
Celine Ng

Celine Ng, the founder of Fraction Design Studio, is curating products from Sprouts Brasserie Co for her fundraiser. All proceeds from the sale of her Sprout Love starter kit, comprising a smart measuring tape and a journaling set, will go towards BCF. The latter assists one in period tracking, self‑care and self‑expression, and assessing physical changes.
