On the evening of December 14, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre (MCCC) hosted the 10th anniversary of its fundraising event that included a Christmas concert and a live auction

Members of the Tatler community gathered at St. John’s Cathedral in Hong Kong for an evening of merriment and charity for the tenth edition of Fayre of St John’s—a soirée to benefit MCCC. Since 2008, MCCC has raised more than HK$15 million dollars, which has gone towards providing cancer patients and their families with free holistic care services including emotional, social and psychological support.
Around 200 guests including members of MCCC’s board of governors, including Anne Wang-Liu attended the intimate gathering with their families. Ben and Martha Keswick were also in town for the occasion. Actress Ankie Beilke returned for a third year to emcee the event, which included carol singing, and live and silent auctions.

The Christmas concert kicked off with musical performances by Jonathan Yip and Alan Tsang, who sang O Come, All Ye Faithful. The acapella group the Pelicans followed with a medley of Christmas hymns, including Born is the King. Afterwards, actress Michelle Reis and son Jayden Hui took to the stage to read verses from the Bible. MCCC’s Music Therapy Choir and the Swan Academy also performed hits like You Raise Me Up which brought some audience members to tears.
Later on, Hoi Shan, a user of the centre, shared her experience with MCCC and shared how MCCC had empowered her and given her the strength and support she needed to soldier on.
After the touching Christmas service, guests including Leigh Tung-Chou, Stephen King and Michele Li headed over to MO Bar at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for a festive afterparty. There, a live auction hosted by Elaine Kwok, managing partner in Asia for Hauser & Wirth, got everyone’s hearts racing, helping MCCC raise approximately HK$1million during the evening.
