Adrian Cheng, CEO of New World Development today announced the launch of “Share for Good”, a new large-scale crowd donation platform in collaboration with Lalamove that supports Hong Kong’s underprivileged in their toughest battles with the pandemic
Adrian Cheng’s New World Development is launching a new charity initiative for the underprivileged by setting up donation platform Share for Good in alignment with the company’s vision of creating shared value. Supporting the increasing number of citizens self-quarantining at home and alleviating the strain on healthcare resources, Share for Good will be Hong Kong’s first large-scale crowd-donation platform, allowing quick and targeted matching between donors and beneficiaries.
This new initiative is a partnership between Yan Chai Hospital and more than 30 NGOs, with logistics platform Lalamove offering logistical support to ensure that donations across the city are matched and delivered efficiently to everyone in need. To kickstart the campaign, New World Development will donate 200,000 items through the platform, while Lalamove will cover all logistical costs.

“The fifth wave of Covid-19 is creating an immense challenge for Hong Kong. Through the online platform Share for Good, we hope to unite different communities during this difficult time, and by using technology we can quickly and efficiently match donors with beneficiaries, so that all supplies effectively reach those in need. We believe that every donation is an act of sharing love among the people of Hong Kong,” Cheng said.
After assessing the urgent needs of the target recipients, the participating organisations have compiled a list of items that are most needed, which include rapid antigen test kits, oximeters, Sim cards, supermarket cash vouchers, fast food coupons, face shields and cooling gel sheets. Once there’s a donation match made online, the participating organisation will deliver the donated supplies to those in need. New World Development will continue updating the list according to the evolving pandemic situation.
