The co-founder and director of communications and engagement at Malaysian on-demand caregiving platform Kiddocare passed away this evening from an unfortunate incident at Iron Man Langkawi 2023

In a tragic incident during the swim leg of the Langkawi Iron Man 2023 event, Kiddocare co-founder and beloved Tatler friend Muhaini Mahmud collapsed and drowned. She was rushed to Sultanah Maliha Hospital on Saturday, 7 October 2023, where she was treated at the intensive care unit before doctors declared her to be in a state of brain dead.

Muhaini co-founded Kiddocare, the first mobile application in Malaysia connecting parents to reliable babysitters while helping women to generate extra income. A staunch advocate of empowering women and parents through technology, the former director of corporate affairs at the Weststar Group and former actuarial consultant at Actuarial Partners Consulting had more than a decade of experience in the corporate world.

She brought her years of business experience and skills into ensuring Kiddocare’s success, taking it to new heights alongside co-founder Nadira Yusoff. In September 2023, Kiddocare announced that it had successfully closed its Pre-Series A round, acquiring investments from various investors led by Artem Ventures, with participation from Gobi Partners, MSW Ventures Asia Fund X and ScaleUp Malaysia.

Earlier this year, Muhaini participated in the Selangor Duathlon 2023 and came in third place in the 45 years and above women's sprint. A fitness and sports enthusiast, Muhaini was a devoted mother, opening up about her experiences with first-time motherhood to Tatler in a 2018 Mother’s Day interview

Commenting on the changes experienced in motherhood, Muhaini shared: “Your own time becomes limited and you learn to prioritise. You can’t do everything you used to, so you do what you can, and what you really want to do. It's a great way of learning what is really important to you, and which relationships are the ones worth pursuing. You realise what you can achieve and that there's only so much you can do.”
