Kings Group of Companies
Overcoming all manner of tribulations, executive director Camille Makasiar propelled the Kings Group of Companies, hoping to inspire and uplift others around her
“When you want a job done,” Camille Makasiar remarks, “give it to a woman.”
Makasiar is the executive director of the Kings Group of Companies, which include the Kings & Élan Media Group, a public relations and brand management firm, as well as Kings City, a co-working space designed for women. As the one at the helm, she isn’t just concerned with getting a job done, but doing it right.
Born and raised in Zamboanga, Makasiar had a Jesuit education at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, where she pursued a degree in nursing. She admits that this was one of her earliest influences as the values of discipline, care for others and magis—to always do more if one is able—were deeply instilled in her.

Due to security reasons, she moved to Manila in her third year, but she continued to carry these lessons with her. She entered Southville International School and Colleges, but shortly after, life hurled yet another trial: the death of her father. This tragedy significantly shifted the trajectory of her life. After passing the nursing board examination, she pursued further studies at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and Imperial College London as well as a Master’s in Entrepreneurship from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Her encounter with one of her first clients, Marilou Tantoco-Pineda, and her tutelage under Francisco Bernardo III and the late Eduardo Morato would further temper her beliefs, talents, and indefatigable drive. “My purpose became clearer,” she shares. “I no longer worked just to grow a business; I worked to build a life aligned with my values. My family grounded me; they gave me clarity about who I am and why I do what I do.” She never lost sight of what mattered. While ambition is healthy, it must never come at the cost of our relationship with loved ones.

Profit—though certainly a crucial aspect of any business—is not Makasiar’s sole concern. “For our manpower business, we built the Home Culinary and Technical School to support their dependents,” she explains. “Kings City was built with women’s needs in mind and located outside the usual central business districts, as she sought to bring opportunities closer to where the talent is—a vision of bringing jobs directly into the community, while Kings & Élan became a platform for young creatives to thrive.” Many of those she brought with her to the media group were originally from Kings City.
In each of these businesses, Makasiar sought to create a place where her people can thrive. “For me, leadership cannot just be about results,” she muses. “I teach our team malasakit—to care deeply—and to work with integrity.” Just as she has always carried the values she’d learnt from her alma mater, she was determined to pass on similar lessons to others.
Makasiar has dedicated much of her life to inspiring and uplifting others, especially women like her. “There should be no barriers to success based on gender, origin or circumstance,” she declares. “I want to see women lifting women, building together and leading with both excellence and empathy.”
