With CIMB Singapore returning as presenting sponsor for the third consecutive year, Halogen Charity Golf 2026 brought supporters together for a day of golf and philanthropy in support of youth development
The greens of Tanah Merah Country Club’s Tampines Course provided the setting for Halogen Charity Golf 2026: Tee Up for a Generation, which brought together corporate leaders, donors and supporters on September 24 to raise funds for youth development. By the end of the evening, the annual fundraiser had raised S$400,100, which will go towards Halogen Singapore’s programmes supporting young people from underserved communities.
With CIMB Singapore returning as presenting sponsor for the third consecutive year, the event highlighted a partnership that extends beyond financial contributions. Through entrepreneurship education, career exposure and mentoring, CIMB employees have also contributed their professional experience to helping young people navigate opportunities beyond the classroom.
Before the golfers took to the course, Guest of Honour and Speaker of Parliament Seah Kian Peng met three young people whose experiences offered a closer look at Halogen’s work: Jeric Goh, an alumnus of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), and Inshiraah Binte Muhammad Faizal and Benedict Lee, both participants of the CIMB x Halogen Mentoring Programme.

For Inshiraah, a business student at Temasek Polytechnic, mentoring provided an opportunity to explore her interest in banking and finance. Paired with CIMB mentor Fitria Sunaryo, whose career began in engineering before moving into banking, she gained a broader understanding of the industry and the different routes into it.
Their conversations also helped her consider how to pursue her own ambitions. “It has helped me have a clearer mindset about what I want to pursue in the future,” she shared, reflecting on the guidance she received through the programme.
Benedict, an aerospace engineering student at Nanyang Polytechnic, similarly found value in speaking with someone whose career had taken an unexpected direction. His CIMB mentor, trained in electrical engineering, helped him explore the possibilities available to engineering graduates as Benedict considered his specialisation.

The experience challenged his assumptions about the relationship between education and employment. “There's not one true path. You just have to figure it out as you go,” he recalled learning from his mentor. He subsequently chose to specialise in aerospace engineering and has continued participating in Halogen's programmes.
For Jeric, the connection with Halogen has come full circle. Having participated in NFTE in 2023, he credits the programme with developing his presentation and problem-solving skills, which proved useful when he progressed to tertiary education. Now studying event management at ITE College Central, he recently completed an internship with Halogen, where he helped facilitate programmes for other students.
“I wanted to give back to Halogen by [supporting] the students in my role as a facilitator,” he explained. His involvement reflects how the relationships established through Halogen can continue well beyond a young person's initial participation.
Following the youth engagement session and lunch, golfers gathered on the green before heading out for the afternoon’s shotgun tee-off. Across the Tampines Course, the tournament brought together supporters whose participation helps sustain Halogen’s entrepreneurship and mentoring programmes.
Among those returning to support the organisation was Xavier Tan, an NFTE alumnus who won the NFTE Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in 2015 and subsequently represented Singapore at an international entrepreneurship competition in New York. Now an entrepreneur himself, Xavier volunteered at this year’s Charity Golf and later stepped in as a co-emcee.

As evening approached, guests reconvened for dinner, where the programme continued with addresses by Halogen Singapore board director Jessie Ho-Thong, Seah and Halogen CEO Ivy Tse. The occasion also recognised the contributions of CIMB Singapore and fellow sponsors, whose involvement has helped the charity extend its reach.
For CIMB Singapore, the event marked another year of collaboration with Halogen. Beyond its role as presenting sponsor, the bank’s employees volunteer with NFTE, mentor young people through the CIMB x Halogen Mentoring Programme and share their career experiences at the CIMB x Halogen Career Roundtable.

The evening continued with an auction, lucky draw and golf prize presentation, as guests contributed to the fundraising effort. The final tally of S$400,100 will support programmes that give young people opportunities to develop their skills, explore their aspirations and gain access to guidance they may not otherwise have.
“Seeing Jeric and Xavier come back to support Halogen means a great deal. Young people have so much potential, but not all of them have the same opportunities or people to turn to,” said Tse.
“We're grateful to CIMB and everyone who supported Charity Golf. Because of you, we can give more young people the guidance, experiences and encouragement to find their own way forward.”
For Halogen, the significance of the event extends beyond the amount raised. In Jeric's return as a facilitator, and in the career decisions that Inshiraah and Benedict are beginning to make, the value of sustained guidance is already apparent. With the support of its partners and donors, the organisation can continue making these opportunities accessible to more young people across Singapore.
