The British Council announces its support of Paul Jatayna as part of the panel on gender balance and inclusivity
Paul Jatayna, a Filipino artist and one of the lead organisers of the country’s queer rave community “Elephant”, has been chosen as an international delegate for the Sound City Conference on April 28 in Liverpool, England.
With the British Council’s support, Jatayna is set to speak on the panel about gender balance and inclusivity in international territories.

The event opens opportunities to discuss the Filipino LGBTQ+ community and share Elephant’s core values: enabling a safe place for all and promoting platforms for marginalised artists in the drag and music scene.

Sound City is the United Kingdom’s independent music conference and the Association of Independent Music (AIM) UK’s ‘Conference in The North’. It has remained at the forefront of the global music conference circuit for over 15 years. Paul Jatayna is an artist managing the production, stage, and costume designs. The Philippine representative is also one of the lead organisers (known as “parent”) of the country’s queer rave community Elephant.
“It is important to me that I get to represent the queer community that I belong to and raise awareness of the achievements and learning curves that we face–especially on the political and economic influence on queer nightlife psychology,” shares Jatayna. “I am also keen to learn from queer communities from other parts of the world and understand how they customise and create their own safe space.”
