Singaporean swimmer Yip Pin Xiu has won gold in the S2 50m backstroke and S2 100m backstroke events at this year’s Paralympic Games. She is currently the world record holder for both events.
September 1 saw Yip competing against Mexico’s Haidee Aceves and Spain’s Teresa Perales at the S2 50m backstroke finals where she won gold after clocking in a time of 1:05.99.
Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong congratulated Yip in an Instagram post: “She has won her second gold medal for Team Singapore at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, defending her title in the women’s 50m backstroke S2. This comes just days after she claimed her third consecutive gold medal in the 100m backstroke S2. Pin Xiu is showing us that with determination and hard work, nothing is impossible.”
